OK, here goes, I have spent enough time reading some very good posts about suspension life/upgrades and lubrication. Wibers, Traxion, Ohlins, all seem to be fitting the bill for improvements in ride and confidence.
Thanks to Skooter, Constant Mesh, Jestal, Radman, Dangerous Dave, TWN (Yes, abbreviation here is sufficient, Baron VonPostoften) and Windjammer. Please feel free to jump in here.
Maybe I'm just old school or too practical, but what about zirc fittings for lubrication at logical points, i.e. swingarm, rear suspension pivot points, center stand, side stand, shift linkage. Many of you have had to completely disassemble these parts to lube them. It seems to me there should be a better solution...
Has anyone added lube fittings, better yet, is it even possible/practical depending on the place that needs lubrication. From the posts I have read, it seems to me that some of the degrading of suspension parts can be attributed to poor lubrication. I don't even have 5K miles on my 05 with ABS, but am already aware there plenty of things that will need to be done to make life more comfortable and the bike and I age, hopefully, gracefully. I plan to upgrade the suspension as it wears out, from most of you that seems to be between 15 - 25K miles, depending on a number of variables. Thanks for all your good input. This forum rocks...
