As of July 2, 2009, here's what I'm at...

Rider weight - 330 lbs.

Tires - Michellin Pilot Road front and rear

PSI - front=32 psi, rear=36 psi

Suspension settings Front forks - Preload at 1st line, Compression at 3 clicks out, Rebound Dampning at 4 clicks out

Suspension settings Rear shock - Preload is set to Hard, Rebound Damping at 6 clicks out

Bike runs GREAT in normal weather and conditions. However, if a little wind picks up, like 15mph winds or more, the bike gets a little skiddish and tippy.

Any suggestions??

Basically, If you go all the way tight, how many clicks do I need to come back to be at the stock setting for both front forks AND the rear shock?
Just got my '09 FJR in sunny so cal. I know I've read and seen that you guys put 40 psi in the front and 42 psi in the back tire. Seems kinda high. I'm a very aggressive rider, going through the canyons more than the freeways. At 40/42 in a corner, the bike feels like it wants to fall over, is very "tippy", tires seem to be "searching" AND when i'm on the freeway going 75-85 mph the bike feels like it's hydroplaning over water or something. A local mechanic said it could be that the dealer messed with the factory suspension settings on the rebound dampner adjustmens on the forks and on the rear shock. Does anyone know what the settings should be?

So far I've tried 18 clicks for the forks, and 19 clicks for the rear shock, but something still feels funny. Either it's really "bouncy" or I get that tipping feeling at high speed. So I've narrowed it down to the tire pressure maybe too? What should I run in the front and rear tires?
I don't think I ride like you. I'm probably more sedate(d).

I use 39 front, 42 rear and seems fine for me.

Can't help with the clicks.

Base suspension settings should be in the Owner's Manual

fwiw, these are the "standard" settings published for the '06 model. Dunno if the 09 is the same.

front compression: 12 clicks out from fully seated

front rebound: 12 clicks out

rear rebound: 12 clicks out

Agree with others that FJRs want 40 psi or so in the front, 42 rear. I tried running lower pressure in the front and mostly what I gained was a really scalloped front tire after not very many miles...

Update...

As of today 6/20/09, the best combo I found with Metzler 880 tires is this...

I weigh 330 lbs even. I took the rear bags off.

Front tire - 32 PSI

Rear tire -36 PSI

Front forks - preload is at 3rd line, compression is 12 clicks out from the hardest setting, rebound dampner is 18 clicks out from the hardest (ie, turning counter clockwise).

Rear shock - preload set to Hard, rebound dampner is 18 clicks out from the hardest (ie, turning the dial from the right TO the left)

Has anyone had a similar experience or settings?
