Suzuki DL650 Adventure? Good bike?

I hate to disagree with my good friend AJ but I am going to say they are Metzler Tourance tires.

I think you might be right. I know someone else made a similar tire and for the life of me, couldn't remember who. Patch has had both tires on his GS, and likes the Anakees better. The new ones are kind of cool.

 
We will have to wait and see once I get her home. Could have ridden her this weekend, the weather was perfect from Phoenix to Spearfish. Mid 40's to 60's, clear, sunshine and not much wind. Unlike the trip down Thursday and Friday when we were pulling a 28 foot travel trailer with a half ton Chevy truck in 35-50 mph wind :(

 
I wanna say those are Michelin Anakee IIs.
Well I know they aren't Anakee II's, I had those on my Cagiva Gran Canyon. But speaking of those tires, I did a track day on my Cagiva and was shocked at how well they hooked up at a hot track pace. A guy on a Honda 600RR followed me to my pit after a session and told me that he was trying to catch me but couldn't! Those were good tires, great traction and got about ten thousand miles per set.

 
Bigjohn, FWIW - I'm the last person to give advice on dirt riding. But since you are saying you plan to replace the tires with "something more attuned to the dirt/gravel" I have to share my experience with you regarding tires on the stroms I have owned. Having now owned three stroms, 2 650's and one 1000, and put them through about 25K combined, the standard 80/20 Anakees, Tourance, Battlewings are GREAT for street and adequate for dry dirt and packed gravel. But when you get into the inevitable mud and loose pack you really need a more aggressive off road tire. I am on my first set of Kenda Big Blocks, which are 50/50 street/dirt and relatively inexpensive. It has taken me some time to get comfortable with them on pavement but man, the difference on the dirt is well worth the sacrifice of "smoothness" on the pavement. I have just slowed down a bit on pavement and not pushed the twisties as hard. As I noted in another report over the past weekend, the Big Blocks took a bite in a muddy situation last week that I am convinced had I been on 80/20's I would have been down. Not as big of a deal on the 650 and not loaded for touring. But a 1000 with loaded Happy Trails panniers can get pretty heavy. The last thing I wanted to do was have to wrestle that pig up out of the slop. I was so thankful I had the Big Blocks on that bike!

Maybe more experienced dirt riders can give us both some further input in this regard, I'm all ears.

I like Dunlop 606's for mostly off road and Continental TKC's for more on.

I have no idea if either will have a fitment for your bike.

Just throwing out a random thought.
