According to the May 2011 Motorcycle Consumer news, Suzuki is recalling some 2008-2010 models due to an electrical defect. The defect "...can lead to engine stalling and/or a no-start condition. Engine stalling while riding can increase the risk of a crash."

Sounds a whole lot like the well-documented ground spider problem on the FJR (although the reason is different). So why are Suzukis are being recalled but FJRs are not. Just wondering...

Might depend on how many of them did it, and (without knowing anything about incidents) it might have actually taken someone getting hurt on one of them.

If anyone is interested in the cause, they should have a look at the threads on the V-Strom forums. It is not a grounding spyder issue.

Mine was built prior to the problem bikes, but I have an interest.

If this is what I think it is, my friend with a 2008 Suzuki 650 just had the recall done on his bike.

It was for a possible overheating Voltage Rectifier that covered several models.

He took it in and got the New and Improved one in about 30 minutes.
