As predicted, Kyndall and I woke up on Thursday morning to temps in the mid 20's so decided to postpone our departure for a couple hours to let things warm up. Thankfully, none of the snow that had been in the forecast materialized.

First stop: lunch at the True Grit Cafe in Ridgeway, CO. The Duke was right there between us keeping an eye on things.

Next was Lizard Head Pass. I'd been worrying about snow up there for a week but we lucked out and found nothing more than some scattered clouds.

All smiles...

We arrived in Page too late to join the happy hour group at the marina, but we got there in plenty of time for the grand opening of Niehart's most excellent 106 Bar.

Either Kyndall was really tired from the ride, or Jill was explaining the history of the study of microbiology.

Preparing to depart for the ride to the North Rim. Kyndall and I were a little confused about the time since our cell phones were picking up a cell tower over in Utah and giving us Utah time. We showed up an hour early and for a half hour, we couldn't figure out why everybody was just milling around in shorts and t-shirts and not getting geared up to go. Eventually, someone filled us in.

Kyndall and I, along with a handfull of others, opted not to ride on Saturday, so we decided to check out the marina for lunch and look at some of the expensive boats.

Based on the name, I think this was the group's favorite.

Later, I rode down to check out the dam. Here's a shot of the hotel from the dam.

The rest of Saturday evening was filled with happy hour by the pool, the banquet, and back to the popular 106 bar.

Don just found out that the 106 bar doesn't serve food. And that creepy pony-tailed old guy back in the shadows sure looks like he's up to something. :****: :p

Sunday morning, we were on the road early. Believe it or not, we had to go all the way back to Cortez, CO to enjoy our first Mexican food of the trip. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

This one's just for fun....

And finally, getting close to home, we had to stop for a couple of shots of the aspens.

Special thanks to Burk for herding the cats and putting this together, to Don for organizing the rides, and to Dave for running a fine tavern.

Very nice Dave and Kyndall! Twas a wonderful time had by all, a really great gang of motorcyclists. Next year in Taos, Bro!

Great photos! After each event attended, the prospects and anticipation only grows to attend the next. So I think Taos will be a perfect destination for next years event. I'm already plotting which route to take will be the most scenic.

Nice, that Feeger dude gets everywhere......
R
A frickin' animal, that guy. A real sport too, going to lunch and hangin' out in the Arizona heat with us while we strolled the docks. We could tell he just wanted to lay down and nap, but he hung with us.

Big D, if the weather looks good next year, you just plan on leaving a day early and swinging though Colorado to ride down to Taos(?) with me. Always a pleasure riding with you, amigo. I look forward to the next time. In a forum chock full of wonderful people, you rank right at the top in my book.

Well done Pinhead!

Really a pleasure meeting you and lovely Kyndall. Sorry we weren't able to share any road time, but

we're still young (don't start) and there'll be other gatherings.

Excellent picture story,...but poor Duke looks like he's been fighting off molesters, doesn't he?

Have a beautiful winter and ride safe, okay?

I am all choked up....almost a tear......I want to go back........please lets have another SW-FOG II as soon as possible.

Great slide show. Seriously, you 2 are the finest, kindest, pinheads I have every met. Hope to see you soon....Adios Amigo!

Buenos Dias El Gordo (cometman), I'm going to take the helm of SW-FOG 2010 and I'm planning for it being the weekend before or the weekend after Labor Day; with the location being Best Western Kachina Inn in Taos, New Mexico. I'll also be Ridemaster for that event and I am looking for a Volunteer to organize the Saturday night dinner, I hate that kind of effort!

But, there is no reason that you could not organize a SW-FOG II in your neck of the woods; Alpine is a great riding area.

You're already a Los Robustos M/C in good standing, so perhaps you could enlist El Presidente or El Rechoncho (RH) to be your Ride Leaders. I'd suggest mid-April to mid-May so SW-FOG II does not interfere with CFR in June and NAFO in July.

I was wondeing why you guys where up and dressed an hour early

Great report and fotos.

I also agree with Don for a SW-FOG II in and around Alpine.

Lets see it happen.

Joe

Taos sounds great. Count me in. Are you talking the same time of the year. And how about some more two up riders. Or I am going to have to find a R1 or something for Holly to ride.

Pinhead(s)

It was great to meet ya and thanks for sharing the pics!

Looking forward to Taos!

Gregory

I know its early, but count me in for Taos next year, me and the wfieski will be there for sure from Co Springs. I wanted to make this years SWFOG badly but the bike wasn't ready after a year of sitting.
