Muchas Gracias mi Amigo Scott, I've picked August 22-25 as a perfect time to ride to Colorado from the Valley of the Blast Furnace that is Phoenix, Arizona in August! Arriba, Ai! I'll send a PM to Old Michael and Sacramento Mike to see if they can Rally the NorCal Hooligans, SAC is hot in August too!

While I truly appreciate your consideration of our comments by providing an alternative date for consideration, I am unfortunately unable to commit at this point. I usually have my daughter that time of the summer and, while I was working on her getting her touring legs, I think my last ride with her, ending with her rolling in a ditch and getting a ambulance ride to the hospital strapped to a backboard, has probably soured her on the idea of a 1200 mile trip to Colorado. That said, if the date is changed, I'll be doing what I can to be there!

You could always trailer it down...I know of a certain BMW fanatic who may have done that last year. Fortunately, there weren't any incriminating photos as evidence. Oh wait...

I hadn't considered that option but I suppose with an enclosed trailer (to avoid detection

Unfortunately, no pool (there is a hot tub though). As an added bonus, this hotel has a nice "patio" type area in the center of the place which served as a nice spot for post-ride hanging out, drinking and general bullshitting. (oh, and a Liquor store across the street).

Even though I voted for the August date: Son Seth, Girlfriend Donna, Donna's Granddaughter Rhianna and Papa Chuy would attend the June 27-30 dates of SW-FOG 2013, the four of us will be coming back from Canuckistan in the Jeep Liberty!

Somehow, I've now been drafted into this controversy. OK, but I wouldn't have been making CFR in any case. Crossing the Great Plains, even on an FJR, is not really my thing. That's why I'll be skipping the Iron Butt Rally again. (Heck, I won't even be flying across the flat parts and borrowing, buying, or renting a motorcycle when I get there.)

As to SW-FOG, I'd like to come--whenever it is--if I can make it. I'd love to ride in--and to--Colorado again. But I don't know what summer holds for me yet. For one thing, my son will be starting college in the fall, and depending on where he goes, he might be starting as early as late August, which kills the later SW-FOG date for me. But just because I might be leaning toward the June date, I'm by no means ready to commit to it, so the rather arbitrary statement that a vote for one of the dates equals a commitment to it seems to disqualify me from participating in the poll by that standard.

Too bad there's this controversy at all, I'm thinking. Could have been avoided, and should have been.

In a bout of even more insanity than I normally operate with I offered to volunteer as the official scorekeeper for the Ontario Off-Road racing system since I am one of the few people that understand how to configure our electronic transponder scoring system. Fortunately we try to not schedule any racing from mid-July through most of August because it is even too hot here in the Great White North to race dirt bikes in the woods.

I know what your thinking, those Canunks are a bunch of sissies and should be wearing dresses instead of riding gear. Our problem is that we are acclimated to the snow and anything over +70oF and we start to melt. I have to go now and work on my igloo.

No controversy imo. The guy chose a date...listened to some input...and actually changed his post to let attendees choose a date. Seems more than fair to me...considering he's doing all the work.

I too am committed (or probably should be) to those silly Canadian FJR games in CHuntsvlle On-Tear-ee-oh. Some here day, I would definitely like to get down to your neck (of the woods, yeah I know you don't really have no woods down in the SW) and play in some of your your reindeer games. If nothing else, just to jimmi-kick that weinie Skooter for all the crap he gives me on here.

Why those stupid Canucks insist on having their wingding in the cold spring months is beyond me. But I luv those hosers, so my allegiance is to attend there. Plus it's like, what? 3 days closer?

Sometimes I wish I could be everywhere at once, ya' know?
