I've been doing the Audiovox Cruise Control install today. It's been a bit more involved than I expected, having spent most of the day on it.

Anyhoo, I'm down to the last wire connection and I can't find a switched power lead to tap into. The plastics are a bear to get off and I don't want to screw them up in the process of looking for a wire. I've done the search and there are many suggestions, but I'm looking for the proverbial "tried & true" method that involves the least amount of disassembly.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Bob

A search should have turned up some pretty detailed installation information, including the power connections. In short, there are two (actually 3 if you include the control panel lights) power points that get connected - the orange wire fron the 4 pin connector goes to the accessory feed at the fuse block and the red wire from the servo taps into the tail light harness under the seat. The line for the control panel lights taps the orange power line near the 4 pin connector. Give the search another try - there are some excellent pictures that tell the whole story. The first install does take a fair amount of timw - mine took about 6-8 hours, but my friends bike only took about 5 - practice makes perfect.

Use the hot lead lead from the right front turn signal running light. Pull the upper inside panel next to the right fork. Unplug the connector going to the turn signal connector. Turn the key on and use a VOM or circuit tester to find the correct wire.

Thanks all.

A new day with renewed purpose and determination found the solution. On my 07, there is a 4-pin connector next to the fuses under the right dash panel. only 3 of the pins are actually in use. Two of the leads are hot with the ignition on and the other is hot all of the time. I spliced into one of the 2 switched leads.

Should be finished in another hour or so. Keep your fingers crossed that it works!

Outstanding! after watching Smitty install mine I was glad he did it, not me.

Throw those screws in the spare screw jar and enjoy the ride! Beautiful day, stuck at work. :angry2:

How did you pull that panel? There are 3 screws and some plastic rivets. The service manual is vague and I don't wont to force things. Sam

Mine is an 2005, it might be different on your 2006. I just removed two hex head screws and I think one plastic Phillips screw fastener in the fairing top piece. The plastic fastener is actually a quick fastener, you should only have to turn it one quarter turn counter clockwise and then pull it out. The panel I'm talking about on an 05 is a black triangle piece with the top edge going underneath the upper fairing and held on by one plastic screw in the upper fairing. You should not have to force it.
