So I am getting ready to do an oil change in couple of weeks and was going to pick up some Yamalube 20W-50 All Purpose Performance but ran across this (even has an FJR on the front of the bottle!) -> 15W-50 Full Synthetic with Ester.

Anyone run this stuff? Any comments on it besides its expense? LOL

I tried, but it clogged my non-synthetic filter (something they don't tell you) and splooged maple syrup all over my rear tire.

NEPRT bound!!!

No...I don't race my bike and subject it to vicious heat cycles, so synthetic oil is not needed. Unless you have more money than brains. Then do whatever you want. Lots of us use the Shell Rotella Dino oil. It's like $12 a gallon at WalMart. Every now and then I get oil from CycleGear when it's on sale. I ain't wasting my money on synthetic oil.

Well considering I did NOT post this in NEPRT I had no idea there was a list. Sorry guys, I have a pretty thick skin and have been around here for awhile now, but simply asking for the collective wisdom of the group about something I could find little about even through searching and getting a bunch of snarky remarks and kicked into NEPRT can piss one off....just saying.

Don't take it personally, many have tread the same ground ahead of you and you can pretty much guarantee any tire and oil thread will be moved to NEPRT.

Then you need to take a deep breath, hold, exhale slowly. Oil threads on ANY automotive related forum are an exercise in metal masturbation. Yes, occassionally some good tidbit will be thrown out, but generally it's a bunch of ******** opinion and lacking in any factual data whatsoever.

And there is nothing wrong with NEPRT. Some of my best threads are there!

So..... don't get your panties in a wad!

Sadly even the links they provide are all referencing discussions from 6-7 years ago. So NOTHING has changed in the Synthetic oil world in that time? Not too mention one of the "experts" (jestal), who seems to have been very knowledgeable, has replaced most of his informative posts with the word "gone". Yeah that is incredibly useful.

Panties officially unwaded! :p I just find it funny that apparently the oil manufacturers are all just snake oil salesman and there is no apparent benefit to running Synthetic in a street bike, even though Yamaha has our darn bike on the front of the bottle! Oh well...I will just buy what I want to buy and be done with it, thanks.

ive been running MOBILmtx 10/40 bike synthetic in my bikes for some years now, and never had a clutch or tranny problem in lots of miles. I change at 5 k instead of 3 k making the initial cost not a killer.I could feel the diffence on the hayabusa .cant tell on the fjr yet as i havent had it through a summer yet.theese full fairing bike need all the help they can get to keep cool .Its not about racing or going fast all the time. sitting in traffic sometimes...

Haha...I'm glad. We're just joshin' ya. Don't take any offense. I've had a couple moved here too. Who cares?? One time one of the responses to a thread I started was, "Is it Friday yet?"and initially I was a hair miffed...And then realized I was an *****. Don't stress it.

Oil is all opinions and ********. Use whatever makes you happy! Seriously.

The REAL key to unwadded panties, now and in the future, is to realize that NEPRT is a very important part of the forum, but for reasons terribly misunderstood by many and most.

The name of this little inflamed appendix of the forum is what grinds those that get ground. They assume when/if a post of theirs winds up in the Seventh Circle of Forum Hell, it's because someone on an administrative level has deemed their post as Never-Ending, Pointless and Recurring.

That couldn't be farther from the truth. This forum sub-section, as you read it on the computer monitor, is incorrect. It should read (but doesn't) "Never-Ending, Pointless or Recurring threads."

The key to most tweaked noses is those with the tweakage don't realise that there is a VERY important comma, and equally, if not MORE important "OR" missing from the forum sub-heading's name. Hence, posts that wind up here, with the moaning wind, chirping crickets and amassed bull-**** artists, are either Never-ending, Pointless OR Recurring.

A perfect example of a "Never-Ending" thread would be the "Going to the Dark Side" thread. After 142 pages, with new replies showing up almost daily, you'd have to consider it "Never-Ending", which detracts in NO way from its value as an important information source.

ANY oil or tire thread, of which there are 10 on Page One alone, are certainly "Recurring". Also, many (but certainly not most or all) are also informative.

And ANY thread bashing Harleys is certainly "Pointless." (or any that SkooterG, beemerdons, bustanut joker or Hotrodzilla reply to. Maybe even that "RadioHowie" guy)

And certainly don't get tidy-******-waddage because even though you didn't post your thread here, it's where it eventually wound up. Because, no matter how you try, you can't post here. This section is completely and totally populated at the discretion of the Forum Admins, who recognize the smell of a NEPRT thread like a pig and a truffle.

Of course, I could be completely full of **** and the Admins are simply a group of corrupt, power-mad megalomaniacs who get a cut of the profits from the makers of the forum software for filling this section up!!! :D :D :D
