Bought this used off Craigs list for $75.00
Cut curved portion of bracket off and welded the adjustable part onto a 5'' X 5'' stainless steel plate
Drilled some holes in the 5 x 5 base plate and positioned backrest bracket onto the tank.
I used a C clamp hold it in position on the tank and drilled some holes. I slide a microfiber cloth inside the tank under the baffle to catch the shavings. Of course they all didn't fall on the cloth I still had to clean tank out.
I made a gasket to place between the bracket and the tank.
I did have to cut down the height of the bottom bracket and the length of the hinged bracket to get the backrest to the lowest point posible.
Also extended the bottom slot just enough to use one of the existing hole in the hinged bracket.
So with it all mounted, it will adjust farther forward than it could ever be utilized.
Will also adjust back far enough it won't be in the way.
Still room for a Camel bak on ice in a cooler, of course there is room for food items. hose extends to tank bag and bite valve and hose is held by one of those retractable key chain deals. THANKS CraigRegs for the key chain idea. really works nice. Hose will be extended under the seat.
I've only been able to test the backrest for about 250 miles but It works really nice. Even with it adjusted to my liking, I lean far enough forward in a corner that it is not a hindrance whatsoever. See you at CFO & SFO
