Riding down to NC to see how she handles the Dragon. 5-17 to 5-23. I've been going there for 8yrs now but rode my yamaha warrior. Picked up a 2013 FJR after I came home last year. Can't wait to see how the FJR handles the twisties. Taking the skyline drive to the blue ridge parkway all the way to Robinsville NC.

Just did the Dragon last summer. Dang that was fun on the FJR!!!! Ended up riding it 13 times in 3 days, over a weeks time. Fantastic!! Even 2Up, the FJR just eats those curves!!! Enjoy your ride of the Dragon on the feejer. :D

Do what you can to avoid it on the weekends. If u have to be there during the weekend, prioritize your timing for before the squids, Harleys, and goldwing trike caravans are there. Ride the gap if u have to. Since u have been there before, u Prob already know this. After Maggie valley last year, I was able to ride it in the morning about 8:45 with next to no traffic.

Have a great time. My fav road was the moonshiner 28. Just as good of road with better scenery, waterfalls, and less crowded.

Weekends during that time of the year are going to be nasty on the Dragon. I would avoid it on Sat. and Sundays. Do the Cherohala Skyway on the weekends.

Ride safe and have fun.

Stay on your own side of the road, ride within your means, and don't make FJR riders look like tools.

Well, two out of three ain't bad.

I enjoyed the Cherohala more than the Dragon. Lots better scenery and less crazy people too. The Dragon isn't very scenic at all.

And run over to Foothills Parkway while in the area

I like the Dragon...if you can catch it when there is no traffic, and it's just one of those perfect days. We had a blast last spring, shredding tires in that area.
