Okay, FNG here with a question.

I am sure that this has been answered somewhere, but after searching forum by forum I have not found my answer, so am now throwing myself upon the tender mercies of the group. :glare:

How do I remove the fuel tank enough to get to the wiring harness to clip in the PCIII?

Anything special I should or should not do?

Thanks in advance.

My PCIII came with instructions :)

I really only removed the top two bolts, loosened the bottom large bolt (14mm if I recall) and tipped it up like when I do a TBS.

Now to snake the cable under the rear of the tank, you remove the 4 bolts (10mm) two per side then you can lift the whole rear plastic assy that the tank bolts too enough to push the wire under (not the connectors) on the left side.

Well, yes, I also have the instructions, but they assume that you have already gotten the tank loosened without making a mess of things.

Not a good assumption.

Thanks for the info. I will now go and install!

:yahoo:

Remove the tank...period! You don't have to work around it and don't have to worry about it falling off the board. Two electrical connections and the fuel line. Pull the overflow tube up when you lift the tank off. It's a lot easier to do than try and route the cable with it on. Also it's easier to pull the connector to the wiring harness apart. Just take the tank off. I just did it this past weekend. I tried it first with the tank on. Too much trouble.

Go to fjrtech on Warchilds FJR tech infor site for another idea other than the 2 x 4 option. Nice pics on this site for a bunch of things.

(I hope my link inserted correctly , if not just google "FJR tech")

VR,

Doc

I agree with Fubar. It is 10 times easier to do the mod with the tank removed. It's not that hard or time consuming to remove the tank and it will make the install a lot easier as you will have more room and you can see what your doing. We've been there and done that.

Well, it's in and ready to go.

Thanks once again for all your help and ideas!

(Now, which map should I try first!?)

why did you decide to install the PCIII on you new feejer - just curious (and maybe concerned), because i just bought a 2008 last week-end.

thx/ al

I am currently using the UselessPickles map of Walley's Smoothness with the K and N air filter.

I would certainly be interested in the Smoothness/Holeshot map, but am unsure how to modify it for the air filter.

Anyone with such a map would certainly earn my deepest appreciation.

Do any of the PCIII maps allow closed loop feedback from the O2 sensor, or is the sensor always disconnected when a PCIII is installed?

Hi, Zorlac.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you; I was doing all sorts of "dad stuff" for the past few.

The install calls for the sensor to be disconnected. I am not the person to give you any technical details, however. Unless you want your bike to become a lawn ornament.
