A while ago, I noticed that there were only 7 All-Nevada BBGs certified on the IBA list, 5 of which were completed in July 2006 on an group ride. I was surprised that there were so few, and thought there should be more.

18 riders agreed with me, and will be arriving soon in Alamo, Nevada, to change that. The ride starts this Saturday AM.

If you would like to follow along, we have a public SpotWalla Location Page and we plan to have live updates from Rally Headquarters during the event:

BTW, this ride is already a success as our generous participants have already donated a nice amount to Eddies Road. I like to think Eddie will be with us in Alamo this weekend, perhaps on a nice road trip from Gerlach...

My Friend Doug,

Please do your very best to keep "My Kid" from crashing, Art Montoya and Papa Chuy DO NOT want to have to hook up my trailer to my Jeep and go rescue him up in Nevada!

Sincerely yours,

SkooterG's Dad

Sounds like fun. I however have never understood how a group IBA ride works out. To me there's too many personalities and preferences and bladder sizes. Seems some folks will want to stop and rest, some folks will want to push on and others will push on when they should rest as they don't want to hold up the group. I'd be interested in any insight you might have on the subject as I have zero experience except for normal rides where these things come up. I can't imagine dealing with that on a ride of this nature.

I wonder what the heck that ride was?!?!?!

It's a 'group' ride because a group of us are doing it at the same time, iow the same 24 hour period. Most of us will be riding on an individual basis. Anyone is welcome to ride along with me - if they can keep up. ;)

For example, in the 'group' ride mentioned above from 2006 the only participants that rode 'together' were a husband and wife team, both on their own FJRs. I think poor Lisa would have prefered to ride on her own, but she had to babysit her husband, Big Chief Stinky Pants.

We are all law abiding citizens and will be traveling at the posted speed limit, what is that around here anyway- Mach2?? :)

Currently Rick and I are chillin' in Tonopah and will putz to Alamo tomorrow.

You really like that area I see...hopefully your ride goes as smooth as last weeks ;-)

Everyone has a cross to bear. Such is Lisa's

So - I was topping off in Mina, and along comes a rider going North on FJR! Gen II, Solteks(I think), and Pelican case on the back. I wave, he acknowledges, and I pull out, heading North also. We get out of town and he just flat LEAVES!!! I turned up 361, grabbed a to go burger at Middlegate, and meet the same rider (heading East)as I'm returning to Fallon. Now I know his mission, and I also learned BBG pace. Thanks! Now I gotta send my seat to Rick Mayer when I get home.....

Speaking of that ride...I'm watching Skooterg's ride right now via SPOT. I've reconstructed his route in Streets and Trips....and if I've done it right.....he seems to be on a similar pace as 2006.

Go Skooter!

UPDATE: 11:30 PDT and Greg called. His goal is less than what he did in 2006, but still a bit over the group mean. He should be done in a few hours.

There were a few FJR's involved in the fun. If the bike you were chasing had DarkSider stickers it was me, but I have a Gen 1, pelican and Warn HID's

FYI- my BBG was a touch under 19hrs....

Didn't notice stickers and never got close enough to see your back tire! Amazing time, and, congrats to all. Wow.

Senor Don,

Skooter is on his way back to AZ. His plastics and frame still look the same as when he left. The only casualty was the gas cap on his Tanji Cell. His use exceeded the design parameters and it is currently lost somewhere on a Nevada road.

De Nada,

Tu Amigo Doug

You guys,

The only Gen 2 with Solteks was mine. We did a SS1K in 13 hrs. The FJR should be the Nevada state motorcycle. We saw a lot of it yesterday. Skooter saw more than most..
