Nice report Rambler!

Thanks for sharing!

Nice report. Sorry to hear about Murphy tagging along. Sadly that's part of rallying. Glad to hear you enjoyed it though. If you want a bigger challenge later this year, look ito the Void Rally held in October. 30+ hours, 3 start locations, everyone finishes at the same place.

Thanks! Appreciate it. Still on a learning curve but enjoying it. The Feej helps definitely!

Thanks BkrChuck:

Yes Murphy can be a *****!

I also need to hone my GPS Route set up skills.

Rambler, I need to start learning to write ride reports! I always enjoy reading everyone else's and really need to start posting some of my own. Check out the Void Rally if interested. They usually have a starting point in Georgia. Maybe I'll see you there.

TLGa is a fun rally. Unfortunately for me, for 2014 the rally book and the bonus 'time available' list were not in sync. The rally book showed a time window for my first bonus, but the time available list showed it as being available 24 hrs. Guess which one I double checked against??

Sitting in the restaurant parking lot with 10 minutes to go before the start, the rally master sauntered over and glanced at my bonus list and said 'that one is only available ...'. Crapo on a toasted bagel. With no time to redo nothin', and with that bonus being part of the combo I had selected I was officially hosed. So much for back to back wins for me. I added a couple of bonuses to the beginning of my route, then doubled back to the first bonus. I lost about 90 minutes because of the snafu. I rode till noon, constantly running scenarios in my voice-filled head, then stopped for lunch and a long talk with myself. I could haul *** to grab the last of the bonuses to complete the combo, drop several high point bonuses, and MAYBE make it back on time with a low point score, or just suck it up and go home filled with shame and sadness. I took the heroes way out, of course. No, I actually packed it in and rode back to welcome all the people who actually had a chance to finish. I returned about 30 minutes before the finishers started coming in, with about 350 miles on my odo.

In the RM defense, he did send out an email noting the discrepancy...while I was riding 500 miles to get to the start.

It just means I shall have to kick everyone's Russell-widened butts this year. And I will be taking my laptop with me this time.
