Cory (Crumpadump) showed up to be the first victim of Tech Day X. Ray & I started in on wreaking is bike before he even had a chance to put it on the center stand....

and then the pride of Illinois showed up....

and Tech Weekend went to hell in a handbasket....

- to be continued -

Looks like there may be another 4 guys stopping by to see what a bunch of FJR guys look like when herded together. (I will be doing a SS1000 with them later this spring.)

In the morning we went back to work on Cody's bike checking the valve clearances....

DSC_0014-L.jpg

Cody looks distracted by the arrival to ExtremeMarine (Wayne)...

DSC_0015-L.jpg

I asked Wayne why only one side of his riding gear looked like he had spent the night having a nap in some mudhole....

DSC_0018-L.jpg

He didn't want to talk about it.

We didn't need to make any changes to the valve shims on Cody's bike so we started putting the FJR back together...

DSC_0020-L.jpg

Pista (Steve) then arrived for Tech Day....

DSC_0021-L.jpg

Along with El Toro Joe who we are happy to say is back on the bike after his surgery...

DSC_0022-L.jpg

The boys then went to work changing out the rear shock on Steve's bike....

DSC_0024-L.jpg

DSC_0031-L.jpg

Marty and Griff supervised.

Steve's buddy wanted us to change out the tires on his Gold WIng. We checked out the YouTube video on removing the rear tire and since we didn't Have a cutting torch and a crane we decided to decline changing the back tire but we did take on the front...

DSC_0033-L.jpg

It only took five of us with a No Mar changer to get the new tire on the rim. Wayne and Ray then remounted the tire back on the Wing.

Here is Wayne after they got the tire on when I told him that the tire had not been balanced yet and that I need him to take the wheel back off....

DSC_0034-L.jpg

He accused me of waiting till after they had it done before I told him. Well............................................................ maybe.

The last to arrive was our chief organizer, BikerGeek around the crack of noon. That the Geek is our main organizer explains quite a bit about what you need to know about a Bust Tech Day.

It was long after that a few of the boys needed to get going so we got a group shot before they dispersed...

An excellent turnout and no snow or sharknados so we are not sure how much Andy had to do with the planning for this.

- to be continued -

The technical part of Tech Day is rapidly coming to a close. Marty and Griff are now coming to the realization that you can't get there from here....

DSC_0045-L.jpg

Geek spent the day waiting for Ray or me to work on his bike is starting to realize he is actually going to have to the work on his own. He is looking pretty defeated at this point....

DSC_0043-L.jpg

Sooze did her best pretending she didn't know the Geek....

DSC_0042-L.jpg

and Barry (Bust) spent the day taking it easy.....

Got home about 7:15 Shitycahgo time. Purty cool around the bottom of the lake. Good to see everyone. Put Ginger through her first real ride - definitely different than ole Grey.

Different good? Hope so, since you have SEOR in less than 2 weeks! Good to see that Joe made it out again. Wish I could have been there but I had to referee soccer games this entire weekend to help pay for all these rides coming up. I'll see many of you soon!

Made it home about 8:15 and still had a little daylight left still. I didn't see any Goldwing parts along the highway, so I'm assuming Dad made it home OK.

A Pay It Forward day for me. Nothing done to my bike, just me and my soldering iron. Got 2 bikes wired with ignition switch Centechs and one bike wired up with a J&M CB. And hopefully, repairing the audio jack wiring on Wayne's radar detector circuit board works out.

Thanks to Bust and Mrs. Bust for the hospitality. And to Wayne for the extra bolts. And to Andy for the Band-Aid (don't ask).

Made it home around 10...what a great day...got to ride, got some things taken care of on the bike (thanks for everyone's help), and...got to hang out with some great folks. Life is good.

And a BIG thank you to Barry and Sheila for hosting.

.....I'd just say thanks to Sheila because ******* was just having fun. Wish I coulda been there.....we could have cleaned the forks up from what is left of the fork fluid that has been leaking from Jackie-O.

The valve check was a piece of cake, the GL tire not so much, Andy got his new lights on, and Tim did a great job on all that 'lectrical stuff on no less than 4 other bikes. We didn't see anything resembling a wisp of smoke. It was great to see everyone again and harass Bust.

Thanks to the hosts once again for all their hospitality.

I am once again thankful for both the the willingness this group of people have for helping, and for Bust and Sheila hosting these "tech-days".

Tim thanks for your patience with wiring up my bike. Ray, Bill, Bust, and others that jump in to help, the way you guys know your way around these bikes is amazing!

The weather was perfect and I had a great time riding up and getting to know Joe and some other guys I just met.

There is an amazing group of people I've had the pleasure of meeting here on this forum!

We're home. Got in just a little bit ago as the rain was just starting. Looks like Cory gets to get wet, though.

It was great seeing everyone, including some new faces! Hopefully before the next Tech Day, my buddy won't "need help killing a keg" and we'll get there before noon.

Thanks again to Barry and Sheila for hosting!

What a great day it turned out to be... Several new faces as always but 2 old timers were missing, Missed you both Pam and Tom.

A few from my vantage point during the day.

This man can seriously rock the shorts!! They were hot in more ways that one.

These two came in with Steve "pista" and weren't sure if it was safe in the drive..

Everything was fine and the eventually pulled in for the group shot.

These five were inside during the group shot so with them the count was 19 bikes

Griff, Steve just doing what I don't know, while Joe gives Marty tips on how tires rotate

Marty looking pretty much as he did all day. Completely baffled

Just a view from outside looking in.

Perfect weather, great food, the best people and a lot of work got done. Pretty sure this was the biggest dance to date. the days total was 26 folks in attendance,

Juan from next door stopped in, but seeing he's only half Mexican he didn't count.. or maybe he can't count? Hell I don't know.

Sorry if I came off ungrateful Saturday late afternoon and didn't see some of you off, but I was completely out of gas and despite my best efforts I had to take a nap.

So again thank you all for this It always brings me great joy to see everyone interacting and having fun while helping.

Love all of ya fukers.

B

God willing and the creek don't rise Griff!!

Oh I almost forgot!!! You guys missed a good move by Steve AKA Pista.

He tried to back his bike off the centerstand!!
haha.gif
lol.gif
I wet myself a little when that happened.

Just a couple of photos to wrap things up from my end.

Tim & Wayne having a chat about the upcoming SE Ohio ride.....

Just want to add my thanks to Bust and Sheila for their hospitality and to all the others that made it out for a very successful Tech Day.

Ray and Pista's buddy were doing the final job of the day getting the communication rig up and running on the '14 while the rest of the stranglers from Tech Day laugh at the Geek trying to copy Marty's fashion sense....

Sounds like a great time and good work was had by all. Sorry I missed this...had to referee soccer havers to support my desire to attend all the great rides coming up this summer!

Barry and Sheila, hats off to you for hosting another tech day!
