Techmount Stem mount--will not allow a 36mm 6 point socket to slip over it

I purchased a Techmount Stem mount for my FJR and it will not allow a 36mm 6 point deep socket to slip over it. The OEM machined cap for the stem will allow the same 36mm to slip over it. The Techmount stem mount is the one that has a 1 inch rubber ball on it. The part number is 5-10998-1R . The 6 points of this stem mount have beveled points on it. This stem mount seems to be a cast part .

Anyone else have this issue?

As mentioned on the other board… I mounted one just today. Looks exactly like yours. 36mm socket no issue.

Do you have access to a different 36mm socket? Friend of mine had a similar issue with a torx t50 bit while servicing his shift lever. Swore up and down the bolt was wrong. His torx bit was from Harbor Freight so I told him to go get another t50 bit from somewhere else and try it. Problem solved. I have Techmount stems on both of my FJRs.
