Now you went and hurt his little feelings. How it fits: can't you tell how excited he is about what he's found?

Ride safe.

Yeah that is a good deal. If you find out you really don't want that smuggler I have an 06 that needs one. :) I got mine in November luvin' every minute of it. While you are building that list the G2 throttle tube should be near the top. Several have the Power Commander III as well. Mine came with both so I haven't actually experienced the unmodified 06 yet.

I'll have to see if this bike as the G2 or a PC3. It's pretty heavily modified as it is, so there may be more the dealer has overlooked. But definitely good advice! Thanks!

Something else i was thinking about.

Does anyone else have any type of alarm set up on their bike? I know some people frown upon it, but where i live....i'd rather put an alarm on it and deter people, than have my beauty turn up missing.
I ponied up for a LoJack. I'd rather have it back in a few hours than accept an insurance settlement. ;) Welcome to the best Forum on earth. You are going to love this Bike. :D
How much did the LoJack run you? I can't find a definitive price anywhere.
I think it was somewhere around $700 at the dealer when I bought the bike new. It was well worth it considering the Police can locate it quickly. :)

So I found a bike nearby and got lucky enough to get the dealership to let me do a test run. The only thing i can say is....this thing is amazing! Coming from a Ninja 250, and then an F650GS Dakar, the handling overall is much different, better, and stable. I jumped on the interstate and took a tight turn leaning pretty far down on the on-ramp. I would have never leaned so far on my previous bikes. It almost begs to get thrown into twisty roads, it felt natural! As soon as i got off the bike, i sat down and started paperwork. There was no "thinking about it" phase. I'm getting an '06 with 14k miles for a smudge under 7k. Includes aftermarket exhaust, heated front/rear corbin seats, smuggler seat, and backrest, and all stock original parts aswell. Anyone else think i hit jackpot?

I feel like a little kid right now...this thing is intense when it's moving. Hope to see you guys in future rides. I'll be an FJR owner come Saturday!
Yep, these FJRs iz the most "natural" feel'in bikes I dun ever rode. :yahoo:

Lol most definitely. and the 200 mile ride back home is going to let me know if there's anything i need to change as far as comfort is concerned.

Just remember that depending on what you rode before, you may be sore after a 200 mile ride on the FJR. Shoulders, neck, back...Stuff that is now different. Give yourself time to adjust to the new position before springing for expensive things you may not really need.

Have fun!

I managed to ride the F650GS over 1500 miles in 2 days, and one of the ninjas for 850 miles in 1 day, all on stock seats/ergo (Everything hurt...for days) . As far as this is concerned, the FJR felt like a Cadillac to me. But yeah you are right, i may be crying on the last stretch home. Guess we'll see. Saturday can't come fast enough.

... i may be crying on the last stretch home....
Not hardly....you will be having sooo much fun, what little adjustment, if any, you won't even notice.

Have a great trip and look forward to you ride review after you get it!

In 24 hours i'm going to be on my blue beast on my way home, and possibly in the rain that's going to come down in central MS. hopefully it stops when im on the road!

Side note: i remember the bike had some type of cruise control that looks like a throttlemeister. Anyone have any experience/use one? How do they work? Also, is the little glove box on the front fairing to the left water proof?

*Edit* Adding some eye-sex. Not a fan of blue, but this is growing on me the more i look at it. tis quite sexay.

Got the bike home Saturday!

Few things I learned very quickly:

1. ABS definitely works...

2. This bike dislikes anything under 85mph

3. Theres...so much...so much power....

4. I don't need anymore farkles except a taller shield (I'm 5'7 and at the highest setting i get blasted right in my eyes if i dont have the face shield down)...and a gps...

5. Squids love to try to race you. I guess because of the look of the bike. I just let the few that revved their engines at me go away.

So the ride itself...definitely a good one. Bike was in Laurel Mississippi. I took I-59 south to Hattiesburg and then Highway 49 (Parents wanted to eat at a casino in Gulfport/Biloxi). Right as i got on Hwy 49, that super strong thick crazy storm decided to show me some love. 45 degree weather and rain for a good 30+ minutes. I can definitely say if i was on the F650 or a ninja i'd have been pissed the whole way. Not on this beast, didn't even worry me. I got instantly used to the rain, and i had full weather proof gear on, in anticipation. Once i got to my destination, i ate, and bulldozed my way home through some slight rain. Total ride was a good 2.5 - 3 hours, and about 220 miles. I got home, and I didn't want to get off the bike. How do you know you like your bike? When you get the feeling of not wanting to get off...

Thank you all for the advice on what to look for, and tips. Greatly appreciated and hope to ride with yall at some point. Now......to go find me a GPS....

congrats again on the purchase!

It's a little hard to see from the pictures you posted, but it might be a throttlemeister. If so, it works by twisting the bar-end on the throttle side which creates resistance to the throttle tube preventing it from going back to it's neutral position.

The FJR has been described on this forum as "effortlessly fast", an extremely apt description in my opinion

You'll find widely varying opinions on windscreens. It's an extremely personal decision and everyone is different. As much as it sucks, it is going to be a trial and error thing.

And I'm reluctant to call anything "waterproof", but the little glovebox is highly highly water resistant. The only time I've had water in there is when I accidentally left it open while washing the bike. oops.

After looking it up a bit this morning, you are correct! It is definitely a Throttle-Meister. It isn't engaging correctly so i think I'm going to have to take it apart and clean it up a bit.

Theres definitely a ton of different windscreens for this bike. Gonna take a lot of time to find the right one lol...

Good to know the small glovebox is a safe haven. On my previous bikes, nothing was water proof. I found that out the hard way on a long trip...my clothes i packed were drenched.

Congratulations. As you can tell, you're really gonna like this bike. As far as being fast, I thought the same thing as you when I first got mine. It felt like it wanted to do 90+ everywhere. It is a smoothness thing that has to do with this bike feeling different than what you last rode. You'll get used to it. When you do, the bike won't feel like it wants to haul ass everywhere, but you will. Haha...

Squids...Well, they're idiots, so do what suits you. ;)

I'm 5'9", and the windscreen works just fine for me, but again, they are very personal. In the rain, if you lift your screen to just the right spot, the wind will blow the rain right off your faceshield. Next time it comes down on you, try it.

Have fun, and don't think you won't be needing farkles. The dammed things are unavoidable.
