I didn't need them, but I just wanted to make sure they work. This morning was the first time since I got the Feej that it was below 85 degrees. Turned the dial to about 1/2, and they got nice and warm very quickly. They are gonna be sweet this winter! The crappy part about this morning's ride was that I saw just enough rain to get the bike dirty. Grrr.

Heated grips are great in the winter! Especially if you have some sort of hand guard to block the wind!

And uh...what's this dirty of which you speak? (asks the guy who's washed his SV 3 times in the last year and a half)

Does anybody in So Cal have heated grips? Use them much?

Curious minds want to know.

You are going to love the heated grips in the winter. Rain making the bike dirty? Damn, I hate when that happens!

A quick jaunt up to Flagstaff in the last week of September is a test I want to give mine. Maybe south rim.

On 09-21-06 I rode a Big Ruckus from Tucson to Winslow through Payson. The image of a giant elk standing in the road (at 8,500ft) a mile ahead with sunrise silhouetted against the beasts breath is still with me.

:cold:

Yes and I use them a lot. Sometimes just to take the chill off and sometimes when it gets down into the 30s during the winter.

Love the heated grips.
+1 I have also used them on longer trip when the mornings get cold. When it gets REALLY cold I use them with the heated gloves.

I put Trackside heated grips from Cycle Gear on and love them. Before, even with winter gloves on, my hands would still get cold but now they're nice and toasty. :D I can even wear my more comfortable summer gloves down to about 40.

Yep heated grips are the bee knees but in really cold weather riding the front of your hands will still get cold. So get the V Strom hand guards and now you will ony use the heated grips half as often. One of the best farkles you can get.

Don't have them on my FJR but heated grips came standard on my G650GS. Until I tried them, I really believed that they were only for members of the Candy-Butt Association (of which I am a proud member). I love them!! Haven't even ridden the bike in winter yet but the grips are the best. Think of the days when you want the mesh jacket for later, and risk it being OK when you go out earlier. You're wrong. You're cold. Warm hands make all the difference. When the sun gets up and the jacket is enough, turn off the grips.

I used mine Friday morning, going to work. It was a damp, drippy morning (not raining) so my visor needed frquent wiping. Wet gloves usually lead to cold hands (and then cold hands coming home too, because I dump the wet gloves into my helmet and forget them). Grips on low setting = warm, dry gloves.

Has anyone sprung for the Yamaha heated grip kit and installed it?? Curious how much of a job it'd be to install the kit on an '07.
I would think the hardest part, by far, would be the opening of the wallet and spending the kind of cash they want for the controller and the two grip assemblies. I believe the wiring harness is already in place, so the actual installation should be simple.

Much easier than that. All I had to do was sign on the dotted lines. It came standard with the bike. :p

It isn't hard, but the documentation is 'iffy' in the sense that you need to puzzle out the wire routing for the throttle tube wiring.

Be prepared to spend a few hours (I guess 3) doing the work. But there is nothing to cut - everything is plug and play - and the old grip came off the left side with just compressed air.

Makes for a very neat installation when you are done.

Great! Thank you for the insight.
