Sent ya a PM Jerry... I'm going to shorten my New Mexico ride a bit, and hopefully get to Pagosa Springs early enough to take you up on your offer of a ride to Lake City! See ya Sunday!See ya Sunday! JB
Hey. My miracool vest seems to be light on the crystals. Does yours look pretty much like a linen vest?Report from the road...
Houston to Austin, fairly uneventful... Miracool vest worked well in the broiling heat to keep me feeling like it was only in the upper 80's... ugh. Garmin really needs to review their maps related to Austin. So much construction going on, that exits aren't where they used to be... so you better be on your toes and know where you're going and what roads you're looking for.
Tomorrow I cross the rest of Texas into New Mexico. And then the really fun stuff starts!
Did you soak it yet? If not, prepare to be surprised once you do... and I had to work the soaked crystals across the channels to get an even spread.Hey. My miracool vest seems to be light on the crystals. Does yours look pretty much like a linen vest?Report from the road...

If you're going through New Mexico tomorrow, I'd recommend "Dean's" on route 66 in Tucumcari for breakfast. Man, I like that place. Much west is the Acoma Pueblo. I like the pottery of the Romero siblings. Touring the pueblo is a worthwhile diversion/hike.
Acoma is near Grants, way west. There are some incredible views riding up to the pueblo. The tour gives some fascinating and memorable history.New Mexico riding tomorrow will pretty much be the end of the day, and only getting to Las Vegas NM... Sunday is the day for most of the fun New Mexico riding...
Yes there is a few of those. Need to retrain the GPS to no dirt roads! Did Clayton NM from Rockwall TX first day Woolfs pass Pagosa to Ouray the next day. Then up UT 95 to some joint on Nevada border on the slab. Then next ended up in San Carlos CA.Just got a call from Groo, he's in Grand Jct., CO at 8:40 PM. Sounds like he's glad to be alive after going over some mtn. pass that wasn't paved. Portions of bike need paint badly but, no injuries to his body. He'll be heading into Utah tomorrow and asked if I'd post this update for him. He's in good spirits considering what he's been thru. JB

Ok, my plans for attending WFO are to take 6 days to get from Houston to Reno... going to enjoy the roads on the way out and while I'm at the rally, because I'm doing a BBG and SS2K on the way home on the slab.
Days 1 (21st) and 2 (22nd) get me from Houston to Austin (short trip Friday night) and Austin to the vicinity of Las Vegas... New Mexico. Most if not all of Day 2 will be on Highway 84, through Abilene, Lubbock, Clovis and Santa Rosa (nothing too exciting).
Here's where I'd like any additional insight. I talked to a couple folks from this board, and also read a few of the regional threads on the board. I also reviewed the roads identified here for each of the states... Motorcycle Roads
Day 3 (23rd) is primarily riding roads in Northern New Mexico. From Las Vegas, I go North on Hwy 518 to Mora, then go North on Hwy 434. This eventually deadends in Hwy 64, which I take West to Taos, where I jump on Hwy 68 for a short southern leg, and eventually turn south on Hwy 518. A few miles down the road I jump onto Hwy 75 going West, and then turn onto Hwy 76 to Questa. In Questa I take Interstate 285 south to Hwy 502 West, which goes through Los Alamos, and then becomes Hwy 501... which eventually runs into Hwy 4, which I take West. Hwy 4 deadends at Hwy 550, which I take West and North to just past Cuba. There I turn North on Hwy 96, all the way till it runs into Hwy 84. Hwy 84 takes me all the way North to Pagosa Springs. Total miles for the day is 418.
Day 4 (24th) is primarily riding roads in Southwestern Colorado. From Pagosa Springs I take Hwy 160 West to Durango, where I get onto Hwy 550 going North all the way to Ouray. In Ouray, I turn around, and backtrack to CR-8 which goes West to Ophir, eventually deadending on Hwy 145. I'm thinking I'll skip turning North to Telluride, and instead go South to Cortez. In Cortez I get onto Hwy 491 going Northwest to Hwy 141, which I take North to Hwy 50... a short North trek on 50 gets me to Grand Junction. Total miles for the day is 427.
Day 5 (25th) is primarily riding roads in Southern Utah. From Grand Junction I take Interstate 70 West to Crescent Junction where I jump on Hwy 191 going South. Eventually I come to Hwy 95 which I take West and North to Hwy 24. Take Hwy 24 West to Hwy 12 going South. This eventually runs into Hwy 89, which I take south to Hwy 14, which I take West into Cedar City. Total Miles for the day is 543. I could lop off about 150+ miles by staying on Interstate 70 all the way to 24, and then taking it south. This would eliminate the big loop to the south on Hwys 191 and 95.... are they worth the extra mileage?
Day 6 (26th) is primarily riding roads through Nevada to get to Reno. From Cedar City I take Hwy 130 North to Hwy 21, which hits Hwy 50. Take Hwy 50 West all the way to the promised land (Reno). Total Miles for the day is 517.
So if you have comments or expertise in any of these areas, feel free to chime in. If you see something that I should take a few moments to go see near the path, let me know that too.
Thanks for looking... should be quite the adventure...
