So, who all rode in this? I bought my bike on Saturday and then hit this ride on Sunday. Personally, I thought it was pretty slick and managed to meet a few FJR owners. Was it anybody from this forum? I had the 06 AE in the corner of the parking lot across from Willhoite's. I think there was at least 4 FJR's within a rocks throw at the start.

Can't wait to hear how many bikes there were in total.

Later all,

Bryan

Don't do the big run. I do one of the smaller ones. The big one tends to have too many underskilled, overdrunk riders in close proximity to each other. Slow riding for all that time isn't something I consider fun any more either.

Glad you had fun and didn't have to experience someone going down.

I was there, although not on an FJR. I also began at the Grapevine starting point. I went in to Tolberts for a tea when they opened at 11am and was AMAZED to see a guy at the bar ordering a bloody mary and the amount of beer that was flowing that early in the morning.

Overall it was a great from my perspective. A couple cruisers next to me started doing burnouts in front of the convention center but that was the most action I saw all day.

Local paper said it was the biggest turnout ever, prolly due to the very warm temps, with between 65,000 and 70,000 bikes in attendance. Over $1 million worth toys and $100,000 donated.

I'd like to do that ride sometime but there are too many loud pipes saving lives so I won't.
Glad they had a good turnout though.
It's funny you say that cause my bike is pretty loud. Usually, its louder that just about every bike I ride with (mostly sport and sport touring bikes). I could not, I repeat, COULD NOT hear my bike the entire ride. Not even a little. LOL My friend who rides a VFR with stock pipes looked over at me as everyone was cranking their bikes. She was bent over with her ear pressed against the fairing and laughing.

I know it's really late to reply, but I did go to this...sort of.

I live near Full Boar. Driving by after breakfast I could tell something was going on there and I was in the mood to ride with other bikes. We asked somebody when it started and ran to ToysRUs to get a couple of toys. We got to Full Boar and waited, and waited, and waited, while everyone checked out each others' bikes. We had coffee, we shopped the botique, we sat on some bikes, we looked at some of the more interesting bikes...

Finally we left for Fort Worth in a ginormous slow moving police escorted group. Particularly amusing was hearing the Harleys wind up when we hit 121, I couldn't hear the FJR at all but managed to keep up. It is most likely the largest group I've ever ridden with.

30 minutes later we were in Fort Worth in an ocean of cruisers stretching several city blocks. Again with the checking out all of the bikes. I don't remember how long we were going to do that but it was way too long to seem fun. I had the impression the FJR was trapped within the squeezed in Harleys so we had some pretty good Mexican food while we were there. Lots of people were drinking and the ride to Arlington sounded less and less appealing. We went back to the bike and we decided that I could liberate it and I did so. We were back in HEB within about 10 minutes (including stopping to check on a couple of cruisers broken down on 121 to see if they were OK)

I don't want to sound like the impatient sort, I mean, to each his own, right? Even if everybody's "own" seems to be the same "own". This just isn't what I enjoy about riding, although I do enjoy a challenging/well-planned poker run occasionally.

OK, OK...maybe I was somewhat of a wet blanket.

I ended up giving the toys to my folks to give to their church.

Hi

I was there and talked to Bryan about his new bike I hope everyone had a good time. My wife and I have made the toy run for 3yrs and myself 7yrs. I know it’s not for everyone and we NEVER drink and ride, but it is neat to see all the bikes in attendance. I also think showing that all riders can get along for a good cause in DFW is a good publicity. Maybe the good will outweigh the bad in the end. It also helps to start from Grapevine the crowd seems to be a little less rowdy.
