I opted for the daytime ride on the way back. i nearly regret it. LOTS more traffic of course and with that all the idiots. It probably didn't help that it was a holiday weekend.
I learned a few things;
The IronButt Hotel is only a viable option if it's an area devoid of bugs.
Those "No Services" exits are the best places to stop for a rest.
Whenever you stop, always check your water supply. I have Garaulds footpeg water cooler holder thingy and it works very well...when you remember to fill it. After the first time, I always bought an extra bottle of water and kept it in the rear pouch of my riding jacket. It wasn't uncomfortable to have there and it kept it reasonably cool.
Oh, and if you EVER travel through WY, UT, NV overnight, have cold weather gloves, heated grips or the hand protectors. Holy crap I didn't think it would get down into the mid 30s over night...
Many, Many, Many karma points to Hycle, Bugnatr and Brodie.. Without their direct involvement I would have had to take my FJR to a shop and have spent many more dollars in repairs.
**New mechanic in Omahell... no, but I think he needs to read the service manual more carefully and be more diligent about the maintenance, other than oil changes!***
