The only point that I do question is the statement that the Barbarian mod richens throughout the entire range. How was that determined? I know you are tinkering with the CO levels but it is a mod in the ECU itself and the base ECU map can handle those readings in a multitude of fashions not just a linear application across the entire rpm range.
The Barbarian Jumper Mod does NOT really richen the mixture throughout the RPM range. I mean it does sorta, but not really.

For the low down, here is link to a most excellent post. I have linked to this post a million times, so what's one more going to hurt?

Torch describes the Barbarian Jumper Mod
Thanks for the reference. Torch really knows what he's talking about. That is exactly why I asked my question. The Barbarian mod allows you to adjust basic parameters of the ECU which the ECU uses to adjust everything from spark timing to AF mixture. As Torch explains very well, if you understand how the map and the ECU operate, it is NOT a direct and linear adjustment of AF richness.

"Sprint St always has a lot to say, doesn't he?" Yes, DAN23, but sometimes you actually find out how something really works by discussing it. That's a concept that escapes some folks.

"Yamaha ought not to have released the bike with 150 herky jerky hp." Yamaha isn't forcing anyone to buy an FJR. Also, a stock FJR has no where near 150hp.

Thanks SkootrG for finding the article. Didn't mean to be taken as saying linear. After reading the article again I can see where it is thruout the range but less of an affect as RPM increase. Not much riding spent at wide open throttle. I know when I was trying the barbarian mod I couldn't get rid of the richness (black in pipes) til I went back to nearly stock. I didn't think a PCIII would do much for me as far as smoothness since I wasn't having surges but it made a major difference.

If you are into spirited twisties, my '06 was a handful with the abrupt throttle. The Fred H mod was pretty good for a pinch fix but the G2 is much better now that it is available. Just my opinions of what has worked for me.

Freds 12 ga. romex wire vs. $70 G2 grips. Your'e choice.
One is a properly engineered and precisely machined solution, the other is a piece of wire held in place by a prayer.
+1

Having said that, I also agree on a class action "fix my ****" visit. I say we pick a date in '07 and everyone shows up at their local Yammie dealer all on the same day, be waiting in the parking lot when they open.

DITTO!!!!!!!

Thing is... how many would actually commit to it? I dare say, not nearly enough.

The website for this says back ordered.

I called the guy (number on website) and he was great. Backorder is about 1 week he said and he will not collect the money until he gets it ready to ship.

I ordered one based on his attitude on the phone more than anything. I am NOT big on being called "Sir" at all, but this guy was extremely polite and he said "I will guarantee this for anything any reason you may not like it, no problem"

I think he may have a great product and is very concerned about me being happy. I will buy a product like this from a guy like that any day of the week

just my 2c

When I ordered mine on-line it was backordered as well. I still had it in a week. Now I just need a tad warmer weather and my seat back to test it out.

Glad to hear the G2 is working well with good customer service. I think it eases the problem of abrubt throttle

as well as the old fixes ( center spring reduction and Freds shim). G2 saw the need and fixed it from the other end of the cable.

For me, I don't have any surging or need to extract the last pony from the bike with a PCIII.

Thats the beauty of this board, the talent and diversity of the folks here all with a common interest .
