Nice rack.
====Curiously, and out of character , I have a different perspective: I think he was distracted by the cops completely. I think he (like most of us) presumed the default situation of a clear road ahead, so when he saw the cops he let his attention fix on them. Then when they started yelling at him, that fixed his attention on them even more.
I got my first ticket as a college student when I ran a red light on University Avenue because a bunch of cop cars with their lights on were pulled over on the side right before the light. They caught my attention, and I caught the end of the yellow and start of the red.
So is there a lesson here for motorcycle riders? For example, when I'm on the freeway and there's an accident to the side ahead, with all the cagers looking at the cops, that's a heads up to me to forget about checking out the accident and the cops and keep my eyes on the road ahead.

Hans, I know you are an edubacated man, But if you hit a pile of rocks like this, without a meteor or plane landing to your right to distract you.... we would be
clowning you the same way..

After laughing at this guy, I read the above post and think that JB has a point. Perhaps one of the edumacated scientific types can elucidate on this. When the brain doesn't receive enough information from the eyes, it will fill in the difference with the most logical scenario. Driver has seen a clear road there numerous times before, therefore while he is busy looking at the distractions, brain is telling him that the road is clear.Curiously, and out of character , I have a different perspective: I think he was distracted by the cops completely. Not only are you correct, Killboy says now is the perfect time to ride it-no truck/thru traffic!Actually the Dragon is not closed. The slide is on 129 but it's about 4-5 miles from the NW end of the Dragon. Too ride all you have to do is come in from the NC side on 129 or 28. The whole Dragon is rideable...start to finish and back again.
