Hope I didn't offend anyone in Canada...
I thought it was pretty funny and went with it.

Then again if you had to go through Canadian winters you need a good sense of humour...

A picture from the office window when I worked in Kincardine, Ontario

I used to work the oilfield in North Dakota and the last winter I was there we worked a 8 hour shift ouside with a -99 chill factor.. 15 minutes inbetween for lunch and to warm up. I knew I had to move south after that one but I'm not sure I'm even far enough south yet.

Interesting question raised. Economy, money, vacation issues, all valid problems. I would have to add: I'm about 18 years away from retirement (and I doubt I'll be as ambitious for cross-country travel), I'm not made of money to take several vacations/year like many FJR owners, and most importantly, being from the West I can't take two weeks to ride to the East Coast. I like the idea of a national get-together but Fred and others have brought up reasons that may be affecting attendance. My points are that unless NAFO is within about 1500 miles of me I doubt I'll ever be in attendance.

This is one of the reasons it rotates around....for those that can't or won't go across a continent. It will likely be less than 300 miles away from you in 2012. Meanwhile, those that do want to travel across the continent on their supersport touring machine can. :)

Valid Point Gerry... But, we get one shot on this spinning ball so do what you can regardless of the consequences.

The wife an' I took in our first Rally this year and will make it a point to hit at least one a year till we can't physically do so.

Could we afford it? hell no! Did we want to do it? hell yes! Money, though a reasonable excuse shouldn't stop you from doing something you will never forget.

Maybe my dieing on a table several years back changed my outlook on life but, we're all going to end up dead..

Best enjoy the ride and have a good time while ya still can..

Again, Don't use money as an excuse.. We're on track for a record low this year. 20K before taxes.

Just do it!

Oh! Somebody remind me to Jimmy kick Ignuts when I finally meet him.

Just one other point. I doubt that I would have attended the Denver event or the Knoxville events had they not been a NAFO event and the same goes for the the 2012 event. The NAFO gives a few of us a target to shoot for that we may never have tried to see without it.

... and your calling ME pasty legs?!
It was June Susan.. Why were you still pasty in September?
Listen up Dorothy. It's hard to get a tan when you basically lived on the bike all summer!

BTW, that pic just struck me as really hilarous last night.. there I was, just sittin here laughing my *** off. Good times.. good times....
Steve, it was just a frigging shame some fool went and built a fence right there. That Doofus should have bounced all the way down into the swimming pool! jes' sayin'

Not to worry Mary Ellen, Bust isn't into gurlz all that much. On the other hand, Barry does seem profoundly interested in Bungie's creamy white legs though! jes' sayin'

Yeah, but those pictures were both taken at CFR. We expect that kind of behavior from our friends up north and their guests.

Everyone at NAFO was very well behaved. ;)

Hey, I hear ya. I did do HyderSeek in 2009 due to the points made by you and others. I estimate Hyder cost me about 6-700 dollars. Not much to some but a bit for others. Life is short but, unless you're single or don't mind hearing the haranguing in your ears constantly of a non-riding wife - which might not be conducive to remaining married; money does have almost everything to do with it. Time was my other point. If I have two weeks a year and one of those weeks are at a pretty high rate with the fam and other is still expensive. It does matter although, I concede all your and others' points of view :)I think one point you make that you and your wife are doing this together makes all the difference in the world.
