First off, I bought my FJR from the local BMW dealer (traded in on an RT1200?)

I got a fairly long list of options the gent previously installed. Heated grips, a fancy throttle locker, Ceebaily's screen, 3 accessory plugs, Helis, factory top case and a box of unistalled goodies. The bike is an 05 ABS and I walked out the door for $7500 plus my pretty used 98 CBR1100XX. The FJR had 2XXX miles on it.

I go into my friendly Yamaha dealer to have the remainder of the factory warranty transferred to my name and to enquire as to the amount of time I have to purchase the YES.

She tells me I am ineligible. I ask why and she replies "I am printing out the reason from Yamaha now". Turns out, I already have it :D

I only hate your gawdamn guts half as much as I hate the color of your '05. Cerulean rocks!!

BTW, how does it feel to only get $50 trade-in value for your XX? :arrowhead:

Felt pretty damned good! haha. I really like the XX and miss it. However, the FJR suits my needs more. It was getting tough strapping my laptop to my XX. Besides, the cold weather wind protection is ****!

Well, B.Ho., I know exactly how you feel. Had no intention of buying another bike -- just going in to pick up a Pilot Power for the back of my XX at the local dealership this last April, when I almost tripped over a new blue FJR sitting there (after reading about and jonesing for one since they hit the States). So, I bought the Feejer for exactly the same reason you did: it just fit my needs more than the XX. That is, . . . IF I was only going to own one bike. I intended to sell the XX, I swear. But every time I'd get on it, I'd decide that I couldn't get enough money for it to be worth parting with the grin factor it always gives me. Agonized over all that irresponsible behavior for a while, but now I'm really digging having both.

Having infected the GF with the addiction of riding Sierra sweepers, now she's got her eye on a Yamaha for herself -- the subject of another thread today.

Did I say you have good taste in bikes? Warchild's another with similar taste, 'cept that ******* farkles the crap outta everything he rides, AND has an R1! A regular pimp -- don't read his posts, it'll only make you worse.

I also have a fightered Bandit 1200 for assing off on backroads, a 69 triumph 650 chopper, and a YZF600R for goofing off when my wife isn't riding it. I could own the FJR as an only bike but would secretly pine for something a little more sporty sometimes. What's funny is that when I meet up with sportbike friends to ride the Va mountains, I take the FJR. I've never seen so many sportbikers eye-hump a non sportbike so much in my life.

Get the F#$% out about the 650 Triumph chopper! WAYYYY back, before the Z1 and the GS1000EC, I had a '69 BSA 650 Thunderbolt that I chopped. Molded the frame, polished the cases and the finned valve cover, chrome struts, Sportster tank, wrap around oil tank, 16" rear, extended forks, pearl blue over metallic silver -- you know: generally made it unrideable. Oh, and had the additional pleasure of buying the Whitworth tools, too. Learned to love Amals and the Prince of Darkness electrics -- NOT! -- while accepted the numbing vibration as only a 20 year old could on a 400 mile ride. Makes my hands go to sleep just thinking about that.

Well ****, looks like you're another one whose posts to avoid -- you're a carrier, too.

Holy moly. That's unreal. Congrats!

69 Amen Savior frame, springer front with sultan shoe lowers, tank from something I am not familiar with and your standard issue 650cc with 4 speed. Steers like a wheel barrow and feels about as stable as a skateboard on ice.

I love going to old brit bike shows on it. I am asked if it's my father's bike a lot since I am 31. :)

I won't show you pictures of my father in law's triumphs and matchless.
