Grrrr. It'll be nearly a year by the time I get back on 2 wheels. How frustrating. My '00 Road Star has had charging problems for months now & several visits to my dealer did not produce desired results. I visited an independent shop that was recommended on barf (bay area riders forum) called Fast Line in Fremont. Within 10 minutes, the diagnosis was made: bad stator. Because of less-than-ideal location, combined with my busy dog-sitting schedule, I had to make an appointment 2 1/2 weeks later for repair. 2 days before the appointment, the shop owner called to say the part has been back-ordered by Yam until Oct. 3! So very frustrating. My summer gear has barely seen the light of day & it's nearly time for fall/winter riding. I think I rode 3 times this year & one time I broke down on the freeway at 9:30 pm.

Hate to say it, but it would almost be easier to handle if I was laid up due to some physical ailment than this mechanical nightmare.

Riding my old bike is better than none at all, and I have to make do with it for a year or more until I can get an fjr.

From 1k+ miles/month to zero. Boohoo!

/pity party

I feel for you, man. I have put over 40,000 miles on the FJR in the preceding 12 months.

If I couldn't be riding, I would be suffering from some serious withdrawl.

Contact TWN, I understand that Barney now has TWO bullets.

Then again, there are bike rentals available. Perhaps someone here with multiple bike syndrome will come to your rescue.

Good luck! (And, call Electrosport and see if they have a stator for you that's in stock.)

That kinda sucks butt. I'll have over 20k by the time the year is up. Not as much as the Skoot, but hey, I have a woman. ;)
