Grrrr. It'll be nearly a year by the time I get back on 2 wheels. How frustrating. My '00 Road Star has had charging problems for months now & several visits to my dealer did not produce desired results. I visited an independent shop that was recommended on barf (bay area riders forum) called Fast Line in Fremont. Within 10 minutes, the diagnosis was made: bad stator. Because of less-than-ideal location, combined with my busy dog-sitting schedule, I had to make an appointment 2 1/2 weeks later for repair. 2 days before the appointment, the shop owner called to say the part has been back-ordered by Yam until Oct. 3! So very frustrating. My summer gear has barely seen the light of day & it's nearly time for fall/winter riding. I think I rode 3 times this year & one time I broke down on the freeway at 9:30 pm.
Hate to say it, but it would almost be easier to handle if I was laid up due to some physical ailment than this mechanical nightmare.
Riding my old bike is better than none at all, and I have to make do with it for a year or more until I can get an fjr.
From 1k+ miles/month to zero. Boohoo!
