EEK! I’m a slacker! Time to wrap this up.

This leg of our journey was the ride home.

We rode 550 miles back to Casa de BikerGeek. The first 300 miles took us 9 hours! Back roads, followed by a blast on the slab to get home.

Lots ‘O pics…

We hit the road around 7:00 Monday morning. It was kinda chilly and foggy. We didn’t really get a good pic of the fog, but there was a bit where I was extremely cautious – I was worried about forest rats. We escaped unscathed.

Who’da thunk there are family centers for Mooses?? <Nyuk nyuk nyuk…>

LaborDayweekend2008241.jpg

After a bit I got a chill going and decided to add a layer of fleece.

These guys seemed to follow us all day. Once the fog burned off, of course…

We hopped off the bike at a Mickey D’s for a cup of coffee. A dude from Ontario pulled in on his Ducati sport-tourer. I had to check it out. While no FJR, it looked like a sweet ride! Cool dude, too.

We took a quick detour through a national forest.

Dr. Zumo said we’re heading North on South Ave. Uhhh…. OK.

LaborDayweekend2008271.jpg

Zippo factory! Cool! I’ve accumulated more dang Zippos over the years that I rarely use.

Where are we again? Oh, yeah!

When we made it to the Ranger Station to pay our hard-earned dollars to enter the park, this sign was posted.

BEARS?!

WTF?!?!?

BEARS!!!

Don’t feed Da Bears.

LaborDayweekend2008285.jpg

The road through the park wasn’t exactly in excellent condition, but that just slowed me down so we could enjoy the scenery.

LaborDayweekend2008304.jpg

I’m not sure what the little green A-frame structure thingy is, but they were in the park. Some kind of camping thingamajob, perhaps?

WOO-HOO A SWEEPER!!!

LaborDayweekend2008324.jpg

We had been on the bike for a while and it was time to get out of the saddle for a few, and we wound up here.

Ah! This is where we stopped.

“Heart’s Content.” We found this amusing.

More to come soon…

Awsome report! I can't wait to get out and about.

Thanks for taking us along.

The Ride Home, continued….

By now, we’re in the Middle Of Nowehere, I Don’t Know What State We’re In.

We needed fuel.

I asked Dr. Zumo to take us to a gas station, and the Doc took us to a closed gas station.

This place was not too much farther down the road. The line for the 2 fuel pumps was 4-deep on either side.

This scooter was parked outside. Note the pooch perched on the floorboard!

Classic!

BikerGeek, fueling up.

LaborDayweekend2008347.jpg

Pulled the bike over and crowd / people-watched for a bit.

LaborDayweekend2008348.jpg

A few bikes pulled up – IIRC, a Wing and … um … something else. Anyway, we exchanged pleasantries with them for a few, and one of the them took this pic for us. Nice hair, BG, ya dork.

LaborDayweekend2008362.jpg

By now, we’ve been on the road for 300 miles and 9 hours. We’ve got 250 miles to go. We are both in the mindset of, “It’s time to get home.”

So, to wrap it up quietly, we hit the slab to get back to Casa de BikerGeek.

And that puts a wrap on this RR.

We had a hoot. We met some terrific people, witnessed some really cool sights, and just had a damn good time.

Stay tuned – got another ride report in the wings waiting to be written!

Thanks for riding along! See ya soon!

Ride safe,

BG
