A film I helped to produce has received a real honor - it was one of three documentaries picked to screen at the prestigious Cannes film festival this coming weekend in France. The film traces Steve McQueen's struggle to create a movie about the greatest race in the world - the 24 Hours of Le Mans - and the extraordinary personal toll it took.

During the making of the film we were able to locate over a million feet of footage filmed for the movie and presumed destroyed, and the film features never-before seen clips and interviews.

I would ask that if you are a fan of Le Mans and McQueen, please visit our facebook page to support the film by "liking" it. Enjoy an early clip from the film:

Summary of The Man & Le Mans

From the time Steve McQueen nearly won Sebring in 1970, driving while wearing a cast on his broken foot and coming in a mere 23 seconds behind Mario Andretti, to when the film Le Mans premiered 18 months later, Steve would lose his only chance to race at Le Mans, lose his best friend and business partner, lose his director John Sturges, his salary, creative control and ownership of the film, and ultimately, lose his marriage. The racing drivers he hired to drive in the film and which he so admired would lose limbs and nearly their life making the movie.

By the time filming ended Steve would never set foot in a race car competitively again, and his reputation as a Hollywood star would be in tatters. But from this failure would rise a cult classic and the most iconic film made about racing, and Steve would go on to become a legendary Hollywood icon. This film documents this extraordinary period with interviews, footage, and secrets from the people who lived it.

Same here, I don't do facebook either but I will support if and when it ever comes around. I always liked Steve McQueen.

HOOOOOWEEEEE, baby!

McQueen racing against a Ford GT50 in Gulf livery?!?!? That's the closest I'll ever get to lusting after a man.

Fingers crossed for theatrical release, or DVD release, or Netflix release, or .... some way to see it.

If any of you are in Los Angeles next weekend, the Jalopnik film festival will be screening the film. It will air Saturday night at 9pm.

The film debuts in the US on Nov. 13th, including theatrical, DVD and online (e.g. iTunes). Will be working on a proper premiere in Los Angeles and New York.

Hope you can see it!
