Bill must be stuck in the Tim Horton's parking lot a-la Bungie or something...
Andy, how come Bungie didn't scream and yell at you for getting the day wrong?

Still giving Steve-O "sexual favors", eh! Not that there is anything wrong with that!

Simple.

We planned this as a test to see how long it'd take you to pull out the "Bungie GPS" picture.

As it turns out, not very damn long.

Thanks for participating!

Now back to Bill's yet-to-depart ride report...

Well Hell's Bell's yamafitter if this doesn't start up until tomorrow I'm heading to Applebee's for a cheeseburger (or six!) and a beer (or ten!). Yo Andy, you want to join me at Applebee's for lunch?

While BeemerDons is busy munching down on stacks of cheeseburgers in an attempt to increase his famine intolerance the rest of you with Mapsource or Basecamp can check out the proposed D-Tour as far as Castlegar. I have a gpx file in my Dropbox for you to look at ....

D-Tour Stage 1

Day 1 - The wilds of the GTA to Busts

Day 2 - Get to somewhere near Kansas City, MO

Day 3 - Harley Plant Tour then on to Broken Bow, Nebraska

Day 4 - Up into the Badlands - Hot Springs, SD

Day 5 - Ride some fun stuff, Needles Hwy - Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy - Cody, WY

Day 6 - Beartooth then head up towards Glacier National Park

Day 7 - Road to the Sun and on the Castlegar.

Puts me in Castlegar on Wednesday night and I'll need to do an oil change in the parking lot on Thursday morning. This is all subject to change.

We are up to two pages and I haven't turned a wheel. Is this a record??

Stage 1 is now complete. I went as far as the local gas station filled the bike and bought a lottery ticket to cover the expenses of this trip with my winnings. I am now having coffee at the local Timmy's.

The enormity of the task ahead is starting to sink in. Maybe I should just go back home and go to bed like a good little CBA rider.

Big Whoop! Typical Canuckistani eh, a day late and a Loonie short! Have fun and stay safe, see you in a week mi Bueno Amigo. Oh Bill, if Bustanut joker asks you to pull his finger just don't do it.

And if Bust asks you to go out to the barn with him, don't do that either! jes' sayin' and nuff' said!

NOTE: Hey Hoser, I just noticed a Loonie and a Mexico Two Pesos coin are the exact same size - just a different color. I'm going to take a bunch of my Mexican coinage with me to BC and try to pass it off on those BC Lumberjack Bogstompers! If you have any Mexican coins left you ought to do the same. Like our HotRodZilla always says: "A Canadian is just a Mexican with a Sweater"!

Safe travels, Bill.

BTW - if ya can, I suggest making reservations sooner rather than later in the Dakotas / Wyoming area. With the oil boom going on around there, rooms can be tough to come by last-minute. There is a nice little motel in Sundance, Wyoming, though called the Bear Lodge Motel. Decent diner, restaurant, and bar across the street as well.

And kick Bust in the balls, would ya? Just because.

Don't worry about the CBA thing.. we CBA riders ride daily short distances.

You need be more worried about Bust molesting yer butt...

Stage 1a is now complete. I am at a different Tim Horton's. I'm now in London. For those wondering how I was able to cross the Atlantic so quickly it is because I own the far superior Gen II AE and I don't require the big wind up key that the antique Gen I's have.

We have successfully completed Day 1 and I am sitting in Bust's kitchen drinking his beer. I have some stock footage of the Tim Horton's that I stopped at in Ontario on the way to the border because once you seen one Tim Horton's you have seen them all...

I almost made a colossal bunder at the start of this trip. I almost left in the midst of Toronto Rush Hour. I had not yet had my morning coffee when I left the house and was obviously still in a daze to even consider such a thing. Once I got part way through my first coffee and looked at my watch it was apparent that a slight adjustment would be required.

Once across Toronto and out to Milton the traffic actually got sane and the rest of the trip through South-West Ontario was unadventful. I have no pictures of this portion of the trip because there is nothing of note in South-West Ontario except for the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford.

I made Sarnia in good time but when I went into the Duty Free to pick a bottle of decent booze (Fred W please read this as Canadian RYE Whiskey) I had thoughts of sitting on the bridge at Sarnia for hours. I had never seen the Duty Free that busy but I rolled right across the bridge and pulled straight up beside the Homeland Security Booth. The agent was very cool and wanted to more about the FJR than why I was trying to gain entry into the Land of the Free and the Home of the Well Armed. I barely had enough time to get my passport out before he was handing it back and wishing me a safe journey.

On my way to Owosso I pulled into the Welcome Center since it was the only curve I was likely to see in my entire trip across Michigan. In Pure Michigan fashion they pulled out all the stops...

I almost got lost looking for Bust's place because Don said I should be looking for this sign ...

However I finally found the major metropolis of Owosso...

I was greeted by the guard dogs as I rolled into Casa de Bust...

It was a very enjoyable first day on the road. Toronto traffic was not completely insane and the bridge at Sarnia was not the typical nightmare. It's been a stressful time lately dealing with some dirt bike racing stuff and I needed badly to get away. This day was a great start.

Bust is on his way back from Chicago I'm going to take Miss Bust out to dinner tonight for allowing me to stay. We then have until 11PM to change the locks on the house before Bust shows up.

Here is what SPOT the Wonder Tracker had to stay about the Day...

Glad you are under way and everything is uneventful. Jane and I were scheduled to leave today, until she managed to fracture her right tibia and damage the MCL on April 7th. She is still non-weight bearing and i continue to drive Miss daisy to PT and work. Will be non -weight bearing until July9th. We donot heal as fast as we used to. Remember that when you are out on the dirt Bill.

I drink scotch so I can't ask you to hoist one for me at NAFO, but you could have a bourban for Jane. :clapping: Might speed uphe healing.

Have fun.

Jack

Miss Bust & I headed over to the Taco House in town. I had the Rio Grande Burrito...

Sorry for the quality of the shots. It's the best I can do with my iPhone. Great food and lots of it for a fair price. Don will be ashamed of me when I say I couldn't finish it all.

Tomorrow - Into the Heartland.
