Not a bad idea. I have R&G sliders on my '05 and I do on ocasion hook my feet on them for a couple of minutes to stretch.

My preference would be to bring them down closer to the slider and make them hinge as close to the bike as possible so they are inside the protection of the slider in case the bike is dropped. That probably means making them longer than ordinary footpegs. Also, definately powder coating in black instead of that shiny stuff.

What da ya think?!?!
grrr baby! yeah! ;)
Based on FJRChik's response, the rest of your opinions don't count any more :D :D :D !

Best Regards,

There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that I was the leg model for Fencer's bike.

I guess I just don't get it. Why would you want highway pegs on a sport tourer? Extending your legs forward while sitting in the saddle forms you into a perfect "U" shape. Not to mention that it shifts the balance of weight and potential control issues. How comfortable is that? I have put a lot of miles on my 05 and never felt the need to stretch out while riding. If I start feeling that need, I stop for a few minutes.

If you want cruiser pegs, buy a cruiser bike. IMHO :D

Well, aren't you the cat's meow? Tell me, mister all-knowing and powerful Defiant, how many miles in one day? How many in half a day? If you put on the kind of miles some of us put on perhaps your girly *** would feel the need to stretch out those legs every once in a while. :p

If I sart feeling that need, I stop for a few minutes.
Goody for you! Some of us however, don't like to stop. Especially when simply putting the legs up on the highway pegs for a few minutes will cure "that need".

If you want cruiser pegs, buy a cruiser bike. IMHO :D
IMNotSoHO you are full of caca!!!

Skooter....

My HERO.

Anyway.I orderd a tap to try to thread te inside of the slider. It should be in today. (hope its the correct size)

Odot - You been hangin round with gay Ari?

Fencer...you should come to our book club meetings. Tonights meeting covers a book called...."terrorist hackers and how to maim and dismember them"....by some dude named slappy joe. That book was recently requested in light of recent post....er...events.

Could you post a close up of the attachment points? I'm thinking that you may not even need to tap the slider.

I wish you would define "a lot of miles". While I'm not an Iron Butt guy, 450 mile day rides are normal and 3-4 day trips @ 500-600 miles a day are not unknown. Sometimes I don't want to stop and stretch but would rather continue on to the next gas stop, so gaining some comfort and extending my range by being able to stretch my rather longish legs (particularly at their ever advancing age) is a big plus. Most of us are clever enough to choose the times to use extended footpegs. We all enjoy the twisties, ball-of-foot-on-pegs, leaned over, don't we? But there are times when we are just droning through long sweepers or on highways.

Your problem with a utilitarian solution for making time and burning miles would be?

Besides, its waaay fun to pass cruisers with my feet stretched out on Wild Bills pegs...sometimes I'll move my foot out there just as I pass them in a curve just to see there reaction.

Considering this is his picture of the mock-up and not the final product, I'm waiting to see what it looks like once others have their input and the refinement process begins.

SkooterG, you becomin' my hero, dude.

Shane, keep working on it. You may be onto something. I remember some who were trying to do the same with R&G sliders a couple of years ago by clamping a short tube onto the slider.

The point is any place on the slider. its just a clamp on the outside of the slider.

Damn... the tap came in the wrong size. time to try again

You are really a flaming ******* :angry2: . I was offering my opinion and you feel the need to resort to name calling and personal rancor. if it is really any of your business I commute daily 100 miles round trip and ride on the weekends 500+ at a pop. My personal opinion, which is what I was offering was that I have ridden sport tourers a long time and just haven't wanted to stretch out like a cruiser.

You are the type of poster that make people not want to reply to anything, because you feel the need to start name calling and telling people they are full of ****. I normally wouldn't have even replied to your inane and childish response, but your type of "Butthead" response warrants a response and a little name calling of my own.

So, in response to your response GFYM.
