Well, that's it. I'm giving up riding. Anybody want my purple passion?(motorcycle that is)

The reason I'm giving it up is because there will never be a better day than today. Near perfect roads. Absolutely perfect weather. Great peeps and almost no accidents.

Showed up at Starbucks this morning to find Beemerdon's Aussie friends with a new car tire but missing a right hand mirror and a windshield. Seems they got sideswiped on their way up from Hayward this morning. They didn't go down, but did sustain a little damage as well as get the heart started. After everyone else showed up, it was on with the ride. Couldn't have picked a better day. Almost no one else on the roads, weather again was perfect, and the lunch spot, once everyone found it, was a hit. No pics on my part, but with a little encouragement Brad Uberkul, OM, and others should be posting up shortly. Thanks to everyone who came along and a special mention goes out to the following:

SacramentoMike for offering up a spare windshield to the Aussies.

CAJW, John for offering up a new mirror.

Told you they were great peeps.

Mark BKF

As usual, I'm confused. I could have sworn I saw Mark not only wolfing down coffee cake at Starbucks this morning but also Bogarting SacMikes burrito at lunch. Also, I'm pretty sure he passed me on Hiway 175 like I was standing still.

If it wasn't Wheaton, who was it?

Wasn't that Wheaton on the Buell under the guard rail?

Thanks Broker, we topped out at 325 miles for the day and had a blast. Working on pictures while drinking a cold beer that would have been perfect with lunch.

I second that emotion Doug. Had some nice Chardonnay waiting for me at home but stopped and picked up a six pack just because it seemed more appropriate. A margarita would have been nice at lunch but alas, unlike the pillions and their wine tasting break, we had to behave ourselves

Old Michael and Cajw with a Forum wave. John is rather shy about it.

Brad is telling Steve how much he likes the Hippo and needs to get one, of course Steve is in full agreement. You can also see Kevin and Marie's slightly banged up 03. It was great to have our Aussie friends join us today and the Sacto crew is going to help get the parts they need. Forum people are the best!!!!

I recognize the 03 they bought from Kevin in Texas, it was in last summer's IBRat Rancho Cordova check point.

I guess it's no surprise the Yamaha folks dare not park too close to the Hippo. Everyone having a good time BS'n in the lunch parking lot while getting ready to head for home.

Great day.

Rolled in the driveway at 2030 hrs. 458 smiles today. Great day for a ride, MarkyMark the Grand Poopah of Ride Masterdom, did an outstanding job of lining up twisties with great pavement, green scenery for the pillions to ooh and ahh over (not withstanding the studs who were squiring them around). We got to meet our new friends from down under and the lovey Laura who packs quite a good glove backhand I might add. (had to be there) And it's for real, OM DID cut off his ponytail, who'd a thunk! It was great fun poking jabs at OM and the "memorial ride" label, but seriously, it really was great to see all you folks again. Embarrassing photos to follow soon, but for now we're headed for a cold one and the jacuzzi!

While I'm waiting for the pics to upload so I can post I have to say that ride today was like ***. After it was over you ask yourself why don't you do it more often!

Could not ask for a better day!!! Thanks to all for that little bit of magic and ride perfection.

At the morning meeting our new Aussie friends casually mention their bike used to have a windshield and mirror. Extra points for calm mention of near disaster. Don't see that kind of damage often with a bike that remained upright.

I think this is Kevin indicating it should just buff right out.

The Girl Tribe plotting who knows what?!

Yeah, I handled that.

Sacramento Mikes public service announcement. I have it on good authority lane sharing is an upcoming theme.

Mark (Bokerfork) is a big bad bully. This poor Buell rider was just running down the road and Mark waves! Well, everyone knows a Buell rider cannot wave and ride at the same time so down he goes lowsiding under the guardrail. Bad Mark, bad bad Mark.

He'll live to wave another day. Down one footpeg and a little pride.

Steve (Bluestreek) and Cindy back in saddle. So glad to see these guys again, it's been too long.

A little bathroom break almost turned into the main event at the gorgeous Langtry Estate and Vineyards in Middletown. Passengers sampled and baggage got heavier on departure.

Mr. Grumpyface.

Some people just didn't want to be associated with the lowbrow FJR antics. Isn't that right Doug?

Aussie's Kevin and Maree enjoying a little California hospitality despite Old Mike.

John (CAJW) and Kathy. Yeah, this place sucks.

Doug (Bugnatr) and Gayle. I think they have been dating for a very long time.

My wife Christy... my little brown bagger babe and taste instigator.

Mark nailed the restaurant!!! Mexican delicacies spewed forth in bountiful portions.

Thanks again to everyone who made the ride and day so memorable.

The Aussies just hit the hay and I'm about to. Kevin is a handy bloke; he beat all some of the krinkles out of the frame behind his mirror and light mounts with my biggest hammer, got the right-side aux light remounted, and the new/old windshield on with some makeshift hardware. It ain't gorgeous, but it'll get 'em the rest of the way to Australia via St. Louis. They'll store their newly-purchased '03 there and visit it and take it for rides as often as they can. There's still a couple states they haven't seen yet.

John, they'll head your way tomorrow via 49, get that mirror on, duck into Yosemite, and start for Vegas. Nice folks. And today was outstanding! I don't love everything about Kali, but I sure love the spring weather. And the roads.

Even though I didn't get to see you guys while I was out there, it wasn't an entirely wasted trip...I've got a lock of OMs braid, and I planted some poison ivy next to Dougie bear's pool.
