My shirt is drenched with tears, and I'm sure I added a year of living to my life this afternoon. Thanks, once again, FJRForum. I really, really get a lot out of reading here. Oh me. I gotta go change my shirt. It's all wet up around the man-****s. Too damn good. Thanks all, and I really do mean everyone. I have a new favorite author.

I've got a question,Why the hell would you want to shift 55 times in ten seconds and in a real time situation you'd never do it anyway.Try beating ************ 55 times in ten seconds, that would be a hell of a record.

The electronic shift may be faster, but the way the AE clutch engages may not be faster. or have the finesse that a trained human can show working the system.

Now was this split second shifting done with the fingers on the AE and the toe on the A? Well, then it's not apples to apples really, is it. On my AE, the speed of shifting and dis/engagement of the clutch seems little different than what I get on my A. And I almost always use my toe. Try and over/under/over/under toe shift experiment with your AE, then tell me the shift speed results. I think your boot is the shifting speed limit there.

Is it time to move this to the useless recurring bin yet?

I'm sorry for posting that crude remark and apologize to any Ladies in the house.
Nah.... my experience with the forum ladies is that after a few shots of tequlia, they're gonna demand to see pictures of this 5.5 beats/sec feat of manhood manhandling....

Warchild I'm glad you mathematically broke that down for us.

Now 5.5 beats per second doesn't really seem that fast.

There are a lot of minds in the gutter hereLOL.

A claim for the system is that the change is like an F1 car. Naaa nothing like. Clutch action is much slower on reingagement on the AE. Slips like a ***** both up and down unless you blip or back off depending on down or upshifts.

That ladles and jellyspoons takes time.

Now 5.5 beats per second doesn't really seem that fast.
DOESN'T SEEM FAST????

That's how ancient humans created fire!

:dribble:
Guess we got to watch it here might get the maxi ******s fired up!!!

Starcruiser, I got to say, You really woke up the forum. Keep up the good work. :clapping:

Woke up the forum ??? More like made everyone spew and laugh.

The AE does one shift a bit faster than a manual shift, other than that, it is not a faster bike by any stretch of the IMAGINATION.

It also has no clutching either than on or off.

Keep cruising those stars and take another haul on that rocket.

Now I've got the munchies, apple pie anyone ?

I couldn't agree with you more but, you have to agree he has everybody talking.

Starcruiser, You really know how to stir the pot eh?

but there would be drawbacks on the track (and I don't have any intentions of taking the FJR to a trackday).
I test rode an AE at Skagit Powersports about 12 days ago. Bill, the owner and a track racer (R1) told me he'd ridden the AE a bit and was salivating at the possibility of getting paddle shifters on an R1. I am not a track racer nor do I play one on TV. Just telling you what he said.

As for the advantages and disadvantages of the electro-shift, I think it depends on what you're looking for in a bike. I personally think the paddle shifters are way cool. But that's just my opinion and I wouldn't try to convince anyone else. Why bother? For me the AE can shift faster and smoother than I ever could. Period. So I put a deposit down on one and will pick it up at the end of Sept. when we get back to NM.
