My favorite car is back....too bad I can't afford one!

Always liked the T/A's cuz Pontiac never made many....some years they made less than 1,500.

I've owned a few from 70's to 90's fun cars!

This one is more Camaro than the original T/A's.

The original T/A's shared the same frame but the Pontiacs had better suspension especially with the WS6 package.

Also upgraded interior and different engines than the Camaro.

Pontiac was always GM"s performance division, Chevy was considered the "working mans" car except for the Corvette.

Too bad GM got rid of Pontiac, should have dumped BUICK instead.

The Trans Am is a tool of our four-wheeled oppressors!

Although because I like nerdy girls, I thought she was much cuter when she got in the car.

I Agree. Plus the Hoochia Mamma attitude and struts turns me off.

As for the car ... we rented a 2012 Camaro SS for a week. I've never driven a vehicle with endless torque like that. It was fun for a few days, then the novelty wore off and all the irritating things (tiny trunk opening, long doors hard to open in parking spots, terrible sightlines, etc) brought reality back.

I had a 1984 Berlinetta (305) "back in the day". It was a fun car, with the digital dash etc. but it was a measly 175 HP in a heavy car that started to fall apart and turn to junk at 80k.

My brother and I had Camaros at about the same time. I had the 350 and he had the first year 305. He hated his. I liked mine. The return of the Superchicken badge will have rednecks everywhere rejoicing. Fast in a straight line is what the US automakers are about. Since those days (and riding bikes more than back then) it's the curves that excite me. I'd love to have a 911 Turbo S.

Fixed it for you.

Actually the 70's 80's Trans Am with the WS6 performance suspension package handled real well.

Today's American muscle cars handle great!

I had a '67 400 ragtop...now that was speedy...
You mean a '69?

First year for the Firebird/Trans Am was '69.

"Handle Great" for a big heavy muscle car.

That's like saying that my turbo MINI Cooper is "Really powerful."

Looks like a modified COPA Camaro to me.
Yup. Their web site says they take piece of crap Chevy Camaros and turn them into piece of crap Pontiac Firebird look alikes. No GM branch has made a car worth the **** for the last 35 years. Pontiac was the worst of them all. Shutting them down was a mercy killing.

And NOW, some aftermarket company is gonna try to pull off a conversion? Have you ever bought a conversion van? They're riddled with problems...Just like these will be.

compared to 70s and 80s US cars like 21' long Grand Prix with a 454? Sure. They were boats with huge, heavy motors that got less than 1hp per CI and weighed a metric ton. Putting stiffer springs, wider tires, (sometimes a positrack - often on a "live axle" even now), and a little shorter chassis and it was bound to handle "better"; just not compared to performance cars from places where they are expected to turn.

I'm wondering what "today's muscle cars'" improved handling is compared to...
