It's not just a man's world anymore. Each year, more and more females are hitting the tracks. Perhaps part of the reason is the inspiration from one of these ladies...

Melissa Paris - Series: AMA Pro - Daytona Sportbike - Her name is known in racing circles for 2 reasons -

1) She's pretty fast and is the top-finishing female in the history of the Daytona 200. She was credited with 21st in 2009. In 2010, she was running in the top 10 with 8 laps to go and crashed.

2) She's the wife of current AMA Superbike champion Josh Hayes

She'll be riding the HT Moto Yamaha R6 in the 2011 AMA Daytona Sportbike series

Jenny Tinmouth - Series: British Superbike Championship - This 32 year old female from the UK has a very impressive resume. She's ridden 2 strokes, 4 strokes, and even electric bikes. She was the champion of the 1st ever UK TTXGP (electric bikes) champion and 3rd in the world final, and she's the outright female lap record holder at the Isle of Mann TT.

For 2011, she'll be aboard the Splitlath Aprilia RSV in the British Superbike Series (first female in the Superbike class of the BSB series)

Elena Myers - Growing up on motorcycles, Elena is another one who has done it all. She's ridden flattrack, supermoto, motocross, and roadraced everything from 35cc pocketbikes up to AMA pro Supersport 600s. Back in 2009, I started a thread saying to watch out for her. Well, in 2010, Elena became the first female to ever win an AMA Pro road race. While at the Indy MotoGP race, she was promised a ride on the Rizla GSV-R MotoGP bike at the end of the season during the media day, but, it turns out a check was written that someone couldn't cash. Although the promise was made, they didn't hold true to their word and it never happened.

She had an up and down season in 2010 and will be again running in the AMA Supersport series in 2011 under the M4 Suzuki canopy and will be backed by a unique sponsorship from Suzuki promoting their social media effort through SuzukiScoopFans on Facebook.

I've been watching Elena Myers for a while now..... that girl kicks serious ass!

I was bumming heavily last year when Melissa Paris crashed out towards the end of the race.

I have not heard of Jenny Tinmouth before... that's pretty awesome she is in BSB, which is probably the best Superbike racing outside of World Superbike.

Impressive accomplishments!

What are the origins of Team Hammer? Seems like I used to race with a guy by that name (a long time ago)

I was wathcing Elana Meyers at Fontana last year. She crashed three times that weekend, and still raced in the final to take I believe fourth. She's good a local Cali girl form Disco-Bay. :yahoo:

OK...Update on these girls

Melissa Paris - suffered through a couple of rough injuries, but, continues to ride decent and score points in the Daytona Sportbike class. She has been invited to do a wildcard ride in the British Superbike (BSB) series in the Supersport class. https://www.bikesportnews.com/news-detail.cfm?newstitle=AMA-star-Melissa-Paris-to-wildcard-at-Brands-BSB-finale&newsid=5317

Janny Tinmouth - Things didn't go as planned/promised on the Splitlath team and she left. She went back to riding in the BSB Supersport class on her 600 and scored her first points of the year at the last round at Brands Hatch

Elena Myers - Suffered a broken wrist during training on a supermoto bike causing her to miss Infineon - the track where she took her first AMA pro victory last year. It was just announced that she's gonna have a chance to ride a Suzuki Moto-GP bike during press day prior to the Indianapolis MotoGP round. https://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=45673

This past weekend we went over the hill to watch the Calistoga Half Mile Flat Track. If you've never seen this form of racing check it out.... pretty exciting stuff. The best race of the evening was for 2nd in the Pro Singles final. Shayna Texter was dicing with Gerit Callies for most of the race. They went back and forth lap after lap and she got him down the final straight to massive cheers from the crowd....

Melissa Paris did some testing at Donington this week in preparation for her maiden BSB race in the Supersport class at the season finale this weekend.

People will most likely be comparing her against BSB regular Jenny Tinmouth (mentioned earlier in this thread).

Additionally, she will be doing a test ride on a Tech 3 Moto2 bike after the season ending MotoGP round at Valencia. Her husband Josh Hayes will also be throwing a leg over a Tech 3 MotoGP bike. https://superbikeplanet.com/2011/Oct/111004joshandmp.htm

Definitely a magnificent feat. She comes from great lineage with her father, the late great roadracer and flattracker Randy Texter and her grandfather Glenn Fitzcharles who is a multi time sprint car champion.
