My head hurts.
Carvers been drinking again!

Shoot my Zumo 550 has plenty of memory. I just buy a 8 gig chip, plug it in and I have plenty left. What needs work is improving the quality of the Zumo 4xx and 5xx digitizers which seem to die every 4 years.

Of course they way technology is going we soon may have gps displays in the helmet visors. Now that is a scary thought.

Holy crap. Who thinks this stuff up?
People not having fun riding a motorcycle!!!

My brother in law has two PhD's. One in Electrical Engineering and one in Mathematics. He reads advanced Mathematics books for fun and enjoyment in his spare time. And he thinks *I* am the abnormal one for liking to ride long distances and travel on my motorcycle.

My Zumo was nearly usless back during the Breaks Camping rally due to digitizer issues. I still haven't gotten around to ordering a replacement screen. I may have accidently stumbled on to something that helps-storing the Zumo face down on a flat hard surface. When mine starts acting up I take it off the bike and store it face down til the next ride. It usually is good for several rides after a bellynap. I haven't searched to see if anybody else has suggested it, your post just reminded me.

The leap is absolutely stunning....now where did I put those 5.25" floppy discs and my streaming tape backup cassettes?

A bunch of years ago (20 or so) there was some work going on in 3D optical data storage in organic materials. This is way beyond that.

"To read the data stored in DNA, you simply sequence it — just as if you were sequencing the human genome — and convert each of the TGAC bases back into binary.

****, it was so obvious, once they explained it. You simply do that. Duh!
