So many things in life I just don't get. Like:

1. Why is it I can ride the FJR perfectly at 0.2 mph in the forward direction, no dabs, but trying doing it backwards and 20 feet is good?

2. How can a frickin bee penetrate the top of the windscreen, the 0.20" gap between my visor and helmet, and the 0.15 gap between my sunglasses and forehead and nail me every time?

You have any 'Thing's you just don't get?' Other than sex, because you are married?

1. 'cause the FJR doesn't have reverse. Have you tried riding it by sitting on the bars, facing rearward? Get video.

2. Karma.

3. Complaints (that I can hear), while I'm riding, at home or on the bike. Life is good!

Enough Sex-because I have been married and understand the price.

:)

Why the more time I have, the less I get to ride.

:(

Ahhh, but it's good to have the little people live in bewilderment of HSAM. My work here is done.

Oh, and that bee thing, Carver? Fudd's First Law of Opposition: It goes up, it must come down. If there is a space open, a bee will fill it. If there is a stupid question, Scab will ask it.

1. Hmm....I have this problem where I can go 0.2 mph in the backward position, no dabs, but trying it forwards and I can't make 20 feet. I'm sitting on the seat 180 degrees reach for the handlebars behind me, but that doesn't have anything to do with it does it?

2. It's a conspiracy.

No, you just gotta get rid of the ape hangers! :yahoo:

To answer the question technically:

When you're going backwards on a bike, the steering wheel (normally the front) no long trails the steering axis, but leads the steering axis. The wheel will TRY to push to one side or another as you try to move backwards.

It's like trying to push an object away from you with a piece of rope.
