thinking about a g/wing need feedback

The rider is excellent - weight shifting to the inside of the corner, leg out and picking the apex perfectly. Good rider on a "Wing" will beat a poor rider on a FJR.

Exactly. So since I'm a shitty rider I need all the help I can get. Even the FJR is too big. I should trade down to a Triumph Sprint...

I just traded the FJR for an 08 Wing. Multiple reasons but the main one being my previously broken hips and the desire to continue 1000 mile days when I want to. I'm going to farkle the shit out of this thing and do more LD stuff. Can't wait for my 1st track day on this thing...should be a blast!

I stand corrected, I read something into what you said. I do own a Goldwing , I have never had nor will I ever have a Buick. The wife and I enjoy the GW and the FJR is my solo bike. I just think it is a shame that some bikes have an "image" that people have put on it. Lots of older riders choose to ride a GW, but they do not all ride them just to get ice cream. A GW will handle almost as well as a FJR and will hold its own against any bike out there. :clapping: I love mine. :yahoo:

I have a Wing in addition to the FJR and some other bikes. I Traxxionized the front end, added

Galfer wave rotors, Wilburs rear shock, 70 series rear tire, as others have said before, the bike is surprisingly agile. It is my "two-up trailer pulling bike" yet a real hoot to ride solo also. Tons of torque, and smooth as silk. I can lose Milwaukee Iron when I'm riding riding two up and pulling my trailer in the twisties.

I still think about getting a Wing, but it could be difficult sharing/splitting lanes out here in CA compared to the FJR. At times, I have shaved an hour or more off commutes by sliding past traffic due to accidents, road work, etc. on my FJR. To be stuck in those messes on a Wing might defeat one of my reasons for riding.

That said, I am very impressed with the Wing's low COG. I think I could handle one just fine, but its width could be a bummer.

Any of you folks out there done much sharing/splitting lanes on a Wing?

I remember being in a coffee shop and a customer commented about the Honda couch outside, not knowing it was mine. I asked him if he rode. Of course he rode a Harley. I then invited him for a run through the twisties against the couch. When he didn't answer I asked him maybe he wanted to see if he could keep up with me on the slab. When he still didn't answer I suggested he just drink his coffee & stfu.
