Get the FJR and do an Iron Butt Ride (1000 miles 24 hr) on the way home. TJ :yahoo:
Hmmm... I think that's a GREAT idea! :clapping:Get the FJR and do an Iron Butt Ride (1000 miles 24 hr) on the way home. TJ :yahoo:
That would be the WFO-5 InterNational FJR owner's gathering. Wouldn't it Toe?WFO-5 National FJR owner's gathering It's not to be missed. WooHoo!

+1....(from those north of the border)....
Well, No. Not exactly anyway. That would be the WFO-5 InterNational FJR owner's gathering. Wouldn't it Toe?
It will be attended internationally, and I can't wait! The WFO-5 Committee has started planning this event with the goal of morphing this into the inaugural FJR1300 National Meet... Assuming the FJR National initiative does indeed happen, the intent is to make WFO the first hosts, then rotate the "FJR National" to other regional organizers (EOM, CFO, etc), thus moving the event location around the country each year.
Thanks that sounds like a good time. It will be a little like going to Daytona but without all the loud ass 50hp Harleys! I put a deposit down on an 06 Yesterday and hopefully will pick it up next week. This one is only 450 miles away so the ride will be easy. I can't wait this will be my first ever new bike.Chris,Welcome to the forum! There are some '06's in the classifieds here fairly regularly. Even some AE's are available. Hopefully you can get one in time to make it to WFO-5 National FJR owner's gathering It's not to be missed. WooHoo!
Hey Bearly flying....I only think that would pose a problem for TWN....since his is the only GERBIL specialist I know of....Mike H: With our local SPCA's taking a hard line on the Gerbil issue, it might restrict attendance to a Canadian WFO
Yes!>>heat management much better<<
One of the things about the FJR I looked at last night that bothered me was the open cell foam stuffed inside the fairing in a couple of spots as part of the heat control. Is this stuff supposed to be there!? Some of it was down near the oil filter... some was visible inside the right hand fairing opening.
Thanks for the response.Yes!>>heat management much better<<

I know my comment was critical... perhaps some time spent with the FJR would change my opinion. (I used to think the V-Max was ugly, but now think it's ok.) Styling is very much personal, as is ergonomics. I think the FJR looks great in pics... looks fine when I encounter them *when they belong to someone else*... just might take some time to accept that appearance as *my bike*.I must be sub-human. I think the bike is by far the best looking Sport -tourer on the market.
As a matter of fact I bet 90% of the people on this board would rank styling as one of the top 3 reasons they bought the bike. Right behind Power and handling.

Thanks for the response.
So, if you're saying the foam is supposed to be there, then that appears to be an untidy-- even if effective-- solution. Could it be that the foam just isn't placed correctly? The way it stuck out... it stuck out like a turd in a punch bowl. I can't help but think that the foam would become water saturated during bike washes or while riding in the rain.
I don't mean to sound critical... I am merely seeking input into a pretty big (for me at least) decision.
