Alright, now I have another question on the ride report. Say I take Valuemans 2nd route, and I stop for fuel every 150-200 miles at the major cities along the route, Chat, Nashville ,franfort, etc. would the gas tickets not be good enough? Chicky, are you saying i'll need to say odo reading was 735 miles at junction of 35 and 78(still easy enough to fake with a map program) or I'll need some ticket to prove I was there.
Read the rules

gas receipts should have:

location (city, state, store name)

time

time zone

date

and you should include:

odo reading

sequence number of the receipt (for your benefit later)

Keeping a gas log that has date, time, time zone, location, odo reading (in addition to receipts) is a requirement of the certification process. It serves as a double check for your receipts when you get home and start organizing your paperwork prior to mailing it off.

What he said, though I've found it easier to put the log together post mortem. Just by writing ODO on each and every receipt, you can retrace your steps when you get back. But that's my strategy and it's worked for me.

I've have always put my paperwork together so that it's super-easy for the Kneebone/IBA guys. The more work you do for them the easier it is.

If you lay out your receipts chronologically and tape them to a piece of paper and photo copy them as opposed to tossing them in an envelope you're miles ahead of the game.

VM,

I have made a small change to your route to go from Chat to Frankfort through Knoxville rather than Nashville. I'm trying to stay off boring 65, but I don't know how it is North of Nashville. This route on mapquest comes in at 1085 miles. How many miles did your route add up? The only prob I can see is a back track between Lexington and Frankfort. I know from the previous posting I will need to get a reciept in Frankfort to show I did not clip the corner. Question - How far into Frankfort would I need to go?

I'm getting anxious.

3 weeks to go!

As an area local, I would advise avoiding Knoxville like the plauge for an IBA run. The interstates are in a perpetual state of construction and always very very busy. Even if you take backroads and detours it's only minimizing lost time. Nashville had better traffic as a whole (and at a lot higher average speed) when I lived there.

Sounds exactly like what I just sent them for my BBG cert....

Ok I'm going to stop bugging you guys, but I think I have settled on a route.

Slappy, I know you said avoid Knoxville, But I have a friend who just bought a house there (now I have to find out where that is) and He will give me a safehaven at 11+/- hrs into the ride if needed. I figure If I leave here around 4-4:30am I should be through Chat by 7 their time and miss the morn traffic. then to Nash by 11 to miss lunch traff then Frankfort around 2 and to Knoxville around 5-6 their time again. have dinner with friend recoup a few hours and onto Winston and Boone with (hopefully time to spare).

This way no back tracking, gas at every major city for a ticket (none are more than a tankfull away from each other). And if you havent left for Boone yet by the northern route, you can keep me from driving off a cliff

The only drawbacks I see in this route are making it through Chat before morning traffic hits, and possibly getting hosed in Knoxville.

How is the route from Knox to winston? Good road?

Sorry, I didn't save the file I used to plot that route, so I don't have the mileage.

I echo the comments about avoiding Knoxville. I just rode through Knoxville last Sunday morning, and even early in the AM there were traffic issues. They are currently working on I-40 through town, which means that traversing the area results in delays no matter how you go about it.

If you do decide to come through Nashville, avoid the 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM traffic, and avoid Briley Parkway on the east side of town at all times (currently being rebuilt).

Well, in about 12 more hours I will see if my butt is made of iron :yahoo: or just some lead :angry2: in the cheeks.

I fabed some highway pegs last night (NOTE TO SELF: Next time buy a drill press for a straighter hole)

Now I'm gonna throw together a camera mount (yes, it will be quick and cheesy but I hope it works for EOM)

Renegade, I'll see you at the halfway point in about 18 hours

Later, I got some packing to do!

Ahhhhh yes...farkling the night before departure for a long ride. Be sure to ask VectorVP1 how that works out.

# 5 is BLOWN TO HELL!!!!

Changed the oil over the weekend with a small run to check for leaks

Made some hi-way pegs ( no biggie if they fail or fall off)

I bent a piec of aluminum and drilled a few holes for a camera mount (which will attach to the highway peg mount) PLEASE DON'T FALL OFF!!! new camera test run!!

Yellow Wolf You Listenin?

Fabed a sheet of alum to mount the Fastbag to Garaulds rest. Now that I'm packed I don't need the Fastbag. It all fit in the side bags. That bag aint commin off!!!

I did all this quicky fabing in the last 24 hours with some work thrown in. All you EOMers. I shot for function over form here, But you know if I actually took my time and measured and fabed using somthing other than my eyeball and raw (I mean RAW) talent I might could turn out some good stuff.

No electrical done here though so I ought to be safe.

I have packed an assortment of metric bolts, thread lock, saftey wire, and duct-tape ;)

Option a:

At our meet point, should any of his fabricated stuff fall off, we're only two hours away from my place. :D

Option b:

If the stuff looks too uhm, shall we say, "rigged", I know my way to Boone, and I'll just pretend I don't know him.
