When you read Brittany's story (her myspace, her story), it's easier to understand the rock the gear site. Brittany is one of the promoters of the site.

Thanks for posting this link. I always rock the gear and expect my wife to do the same thing. (By the way, RTG is easier than ATGATT and sounds better as well)

I will tell you I rarely ride with someone who does not wear gear. To me it means they dont take the risks seriously enough and are a danger to me and those around them.. <<<<

*********************************

I will tell YOU, that I am not concerned with what my riding partners wear, but I AM concerned about how they ride. I am picky too. I dont ride with people that are part -time riders. I also wont ride with the ATGATT rider that dog paddles his way around the parking lot when it comes time to leave. Not only is it embarrassing, but potentially dangerous. Ya see, when a person rides part time, their skill level naturally drops and THAT is dangerous. Same with flying, skydiving, scuba diving, etc. Some things are better done on a regular and frequent basis.

Live to ride partner!! Be careful out there :)

...since then I've travelled hundreds of thousands of miles and ridden practically every day of my life since then (as I do now as a BIKER, not a weekend warrior), so I may be mistaken.
What does "as a BIKER" mean?

Without a helmet and without any protective gear makes you a BIKER?

Just want to be clear on this...

Fred, it's simple...a biker is someone that makes his bike a part of his being, rides it frequently, is at home on it more so than in a car or other vehicle, etc. Has nothing to do with gear. :)

I'll stick with the acronym "ATGATT". It rolls just fine.
I do like the site though. Thanks Cdog.
****************************************

I like the site as far as providing info on gear. Thats cool. Was just mentioning about the propoganda and RIOT part, sounds subversive ;) ...and thats mostly a joke , sorry to offend. Everyone needs to make their own personal choice on what they wear, and what risks they take. Some days you'll see me in hardly any gear at all, and some days I'll be ATGATT, depending on what kind of riding I'm doing. I dont have a pre-set way of gearing up, but it's cool and safe if you do choose to go all out. :)

thanks for the link Cdog, always good to learn of sites dedicatied to any facet of motorcyling.

Since you apparently don't mind government imposition, why not just imposed mandatory bodily injury insurance on everyone who rides... say, with $1 million limits. You won't like the premiums, but that should solve the "problem."
For the record, I'm pro choice but choose MOTGMOTT (Most Of The Gear Most Of The Time).

Dude, what exactly about my response made you think I "don't mind government imposition"!? I didn't suggest anyone impose anything on anyone, nor did I suggest their was a "problem", other than someone taking offense to a website that promotes the use of riding gear. You might want to read again.....WITHOUT reading anything into it.

For the record, while I don't enjoy higher insurance premiums brought on, in part, by those who don't ride with gear, I don't give anyone a hard time about not wearing it either and DO believe the choice should be left up to the rider. Also, I can't stand hearing about people.....some who have been BIKERS their whole lives....getting seriously injured or killed unnecessarily. Finally, God help the poor sap who wants to give me a hard time about wearing and promoting (not demanding) ATTGATT.

OK thanks for your clarification. That is not what I would have gotten from the context.

I'd much prefer to consider myself a motorcyclist.

A "BIKER" conjurs up images of choppers and skid lids, "Born to Ride" tattoos and leather vests and *** chaps, and ugly, used up skanks ridin' *****. [shudder] Yeah, I'm definitely not wanting to be a BIKER... In fact I'd rather be a weekend warrior than that version of a BIKER.

Yours sounds OK though...

Man , ya bringing up ole memories for me!! LOL Believe it or not, when I was just a little kid, back in the 60's, my dad was a HD man thru and thru...he did the leather thing, and used to bring me and my mom on his bike (yeah, we'd ride 3 up back then, not many laws then) to these motorcycle gatherings (now called "rallies") to watch bike races and generally raise hell. I'd see these scary *** looking bikers, some with MC patches (I can still remember seeing Hells Angels in Houston, TX), and all their funky tatoo'd women. But ya know, everyone got along fine and there would always be kids around to hang with. That time really molded my love for bikes and everything associated with them. I mix with the cruiser crowd all the way down to the sport bike guys and even a few Vespa riders. :)

Times sure have changed though, between laws and traffic and cagers on cell phones, etc :sigh: ;)

Cdog,

Good find. Thanks for posting. Anyone who has ever been on the race track

and/or survived a serious crash, knows all about wearing the right gear. The

right gear is a lot of times a personal choice, but a no brainer (pun) indeed.

I for one, can appreciate the idea of reducing the chances of having to re-harvest

skin and having my brains flowing out of the cracks in my skull and me ears. To

each his own though.

Ride safe all,

WW

Educate them then bro!!
You are just the man for it!!
I dont preach about gear...
I do.

Email sent to the powers that be
Wayne mentioned getting an email. He thought I might have sent it. He emailed RockTheGear about his stuff.

I figured it was a good excuse to call him about leakage in my four year-old liners. He said "Just send 'em to me. I'll either fix 'em or replace 'em."

The Motoport Difference“We are the only motorcycle apparel company in the world that replaces a crashed jacket or pant if we can’t repair it ... FOR FREE. This sets us apart. All other synthetic apparel made today is normally thrown in the garbage, even after a 10mph crash!”
He said that they've gotten about 15 suits back from different P.D.'s that have gone down in them. Most didn't even need repair, no debilitating injuries or broken bones, including an officer who went down at 75 after hitting a diesel spill. He thought he was gonna be dead, but walked away.

I told Wayne I like the new gloves, and I'm thinking I'll never have to buy another pair, since I don't see them ever wearing out. He said they've sold about 2600 pairs so far, and none have come back damaged yet.

I mentioned to Wayne that I thought his website could use a bit more Rockin'....

Then there's NOTGNOTT (None of The Gear None of The Time). I'd pronounce it Not-not (silent G, like Gnu).
**************************************************

Hey, I can related to that silent G thingie...my 4th wife used to say I was hung like a gnat (that's good, right?)

Then there's NOTGNOTT (None of The Gear None of The Time).
That's a double-negative! :assassin: It is logically equivalent to "some of the gear, all of the time". If you wanted the opposite of ATGATT, you'd need "No gear, all the time", or NGATT. Or "No Gear. Ever." NGE.

So you're proposing NOTGAOTT?

Okay, but still pronounced with the silent G, right?
