There I was, minding my own business, cruising down the super slab all by myself. Then I looked down at the speedo and realized I was going 90+!!!. These bikes are so smooth you almost can't tell. I best start paying attention.

What a great little motorcycle (remember, I'm used to land yachts....).

I kept my eye on the MPG meter, too (neat feature). At 70 I'm getting 48 mpg. Perfect for breezing to work every day.

Having too much fun....

Surprising how easy it is to be way beyond where you think you are . . . Love my radar detector !
Don't mean to hijjack, but where do you put your radar detector? Im thinking about taking mine out of the cage and putting it on the bike..

Love the bike, the 08 black rocks!

It is a great bike for traveling fast.

Re: Radar detector,

Alot of people secure it to the top of the brake or clutch resavoir with in dustrial velcro.

I have mine hidden away in the bowels of my tankbag (thanks to Kieth in Tulsa).

There's industrial velcro? Oh baby, my world just got better! :yahoo:

P.S. Mount my detector on my dash shelf with regular ol' velcro. But that's all about to change!

TerryJ from southcentral Montana,

Congrats on the new Feej. You'll have no regrets.

Where you live? Billings? I bought my '03 FJR used with 1300 miles in Feb. '03 from a Billings guy named Luther James. I think he worked at one of the refineries. He had an HD and 'Busa in his garage, too.

I have 44,000 on her over five seasons, and would have 50,000 except three of the five seasons got cut short due to: 1) having the bike stolen, recovered, totalled, bought back and restored; 2) hitting a rock in Idaho and bending both wheels and 3) a get-off aboard a GSXR-6 rental at a Firebird Raceway trackday last fall that kept me off bikes for six weeks and caused me to leave my honey in Mesa, where it resides presently. I will go fetch it soon.

Anyway, I have been riding Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington and BC for better than 20 years and have started to learn Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. I've also ridden part of the Mississippi Valley. We have some great riding in this country: Bighorns, Beartooths, The Flathead and Yaak County, the Idaho Panhandle and so much more.

If you ever want a fellow FJR pilot to tag along - or lead the way - let me know. My wife and I are game just about anytime. We love to tour but prefer a "brisk" pace. PM me and we'll do the Beartooth Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, etc. as soon as it melts out and opens - first weekend of June?

Where you live, 90 on the super slab and you will get passed by a minivan or suburban with a load of kids bicycles. I've seen it.

Enjoy the ride. :)

Hey Terry the first thing I did was install cruise control for the big highways. Throttlemiesser was my choice and have been happy with it so far.

 Enjoy the ride!!

Gotta say I wasn't keen on the Black when I saw it on yahama's website, or in person at the Long Beach bike show. But it looks really good in that photo. Nice bike mate. Well done.

Yes they are smooth. Catch my self in the spirited mode quite a bit. Need to get a throttle lock of some kind before I am having a talk with THE MAN.

Enjoy the bike.

It should be illegal to sell an FJR without a RD. Like baiting a wild animal.
Enjoy the new bike!
B-b-b--but yer "brain-bone" is supposed to be connected to yer "wrist-bone".

HA, you and everyone on this board knows that connectioned is severed as soon as you toss a leg over.

SPeaking of which. Need to go look at mine, its been about an hr. :yahoo:

Governor? I remember how my arm got sore from holding the governor open on my go-cart when I was a kid. That'd be kinda dangerous riding the feej like that.

You could move to Kalifornia. I hear they got quite a governor there :derisive:

yah, and with government like this, any bike over 250cc's will probably be illegal within a decade, and anything not powered by pedals or a battery not long before that. :(
