OK, before this get's exiled to the "Never ending.....meaningless...." Let me say that I've searched this forum and the FJR tech site and can't find pics of the spring fix for the throttle response "issue" on the FJR. I know it's around here somewhere because I've read some posts on it. There was one about backing the tension on the throttle spring out to help. Is it on this site?

The problem is that the spring force (IMO) is too strong and the throttle either "snatches" on or off too quick. I know why Yamaha does it, due to the CARB restrictions/emmissions but it does make riding the FJR a little more touchy than if the throttle required a little less force and the rolloff was a bit more gentle.

For the present I don't want to remap anything or modify the electronics. If I could just soften the roll-off I think I'd be happy.

Thanks!

Start with a G2 Ergonomics throttle tube assy with #400 cam.

Search the site and you'll have all the info you need. 65 bucks and you'll be good to go.

Start here

I did this mod today, took next to no time. Use an air compressor to get your grip off.

I have NOT taken any spring load of my throttle, I did do the Barbarian mod which you can search for. I think that helps quite a bit. I'm not 100% sold on the throttle cam yet, but it's a cheap enough mod that even if it doesn't provide any other improvement. Having an aluminum throttle thingy over plastic has to be worth something.

The throttle spring mod works majik and is here somewhere. I suck at search..... One of the other guys can tell you tho....... I am sure they will chime in,,, good group of guys/gals here.

I did the G2 as well, it is also well worth it........... My bike works pretty well. More to come but I think the G2 and the mod made a big difference and are a good sgtart

Hey Man,

Can we make this thread a sticky? I'm tired of seeing the same d@mn question and answers over and over.

Check the Tech Discussions section toward the bottom.

Do wrist curls with a few pounds of weight....does wonders.

In addition to everything else mentioned. And if it doesn't help your riding. It may help your self-lovin'

Just remove the center spring -- good to go!!!!
do you really mean completely remove the center spring? I did give the one turn remedy a try and am still not happy with throttle response. It took a lot of the fun out of the Dragon and inserted a few pucker moments that were not appreciated.

Which web site is best for purchasing the G2 Ergonomics throttle tube assy with #400 cam?
Thanks.
G2 Ergo home page

Order direct from manufacturer.

you have a cam. its plastic. make it look like a #400 cam. take slack out of cable at adjuster at handlebar. simple and easy and it worked for me......if you mess it up then you order a g2.
