Guys,

Question when you adjust the throttle tension do you just release the spring and lrt it catch the tab by itself? I'm planning to run some wiring for a fuse block under the tank so I thought I would do the throttle spring at the sametime.

Yep...lifted it up, pushed it off the catch and around it went. Caught the next time by, no problem. I have heard of it making an extra trip on rare occasion and folks have posted methods of bringing it back around. If the FJR Gods are with you, it will be fine.

When I did it, it happened so fast that I wasn't sure that I did anything. Then I twisted the throttle and it was noticeably lighter.

My experience too. I thought I had a hold of it to gently unwrap it one turn then... oops, done.

Mine had a bit of play after I unwound it. I was worried that the throttle would stay open just a bit. After a couple rides, it seemed to adjust itself perfectly.

There has been a lot of discussion here about the spring release and the failure of the spring to be seated against the tang after the release. Some have complained about the failure of the throttle to snap shut when released when this happens. Does this mean the spring has made two turns instead of one? Who knows? After doing the throttle spring release on my '06 the spring did not seat against the tang, but my throttle still acts perfectly when closed. There is no hesitation when returning to idle. One note: if you decide you need to rewind the spring, good luck. I played around with doing so and even using the tips posted on this forum, I found it impossible. Glad I couldn't rewind as it works perfectly as is.

When I released mine I wasn't sure if it caught or not. It is slow to return - takes a couple of seconds, but I like it that way. I can take my hand off the throttle at speed for a second without big engine breaking.

When I did my 04 (gen I) the center spring relased fully from the stop (and did not catch). I've since done an 06 and an 07, both of those caught back on the stop after one un-wind....

On my '05 it didn't seat back on the tang after one unwind (about 1/16 gap). However the throttle returns just fine and no issues have resulted.

Thanks gang, I released the spring and bang it caught again no issues. I have a Throttle lock so mine doesn't snap back anyway. Just did a 350 mile ride no issues.

Hey, is it my imagination, or does Danno look exactly like that kid who played 'Boy' in the really old Tarzan movies? Same guy, ya think?
