Throttlemeister Got Loose

Just a quick heads-up to check that your bar-ends and Throttlemeister are tight. I noticed my Throttlemeister wasn't holding the throttle like it should and found the 6mm allen bolt that holds it on the bar was significantly loose. I removed it and put some Loctite 242 on it and re-installed it. Then I check the left bar end and found it was pretty loose as well. Might be worth checking yours.

Hope I save somebody's bar end!

Have you seen the price of those lately? Of course the throttlemeisters are good money too and ccs-100 is a lot better...

Blue Loctite is your friend. Mine's never come loose. You can get some at any auto store and probably Ace Hardware as well. A dab ul do ya. :yahoo:

You can buy an awful lot of Blue Loctite for the difference in price!

I have seen those get loose too. It is not as simple a device as say a Throttlemeister, or even vista cruise as there is just one bolt or screw to tighten if loose. Whereas, those miniature hex screws on the Brake-away get loose even with blue loctite on them, thus rendering the device useless until you tighten those darn things again!

+1 with the blue loctite. I also had to use a zip tie to keep the plastic piece under the grip in place.

I let mine (BL) dry overnight. Maybe that's why mine are still holding on the Brakeaway.

The instance(s) I am talking about the BL was left to dry overnight also. Maybe it was the V-twin vibrations which did it in. Anyway YMMV...

My Throttlemeister seemed like was ALWAYS loose when I wanted to use it. They have/had a no-questions-asked return policy, so after I'd had mine for over a year I finally called and told them about the problem and said I wanted to return it. They didn't have any advice on how to stop it from loosening, so they went ahead and took it back & refunded all my money. I don't know if they still honor that policy, but it may be worth checking out for anyone who is looking to upgrade.

And I'm not sure what kind of fish those are, but I'm always happy to see proper use of approved floatation devices.
