Here's the quote from the letter I received from "The Ticket Clinic" (found them online):

"An attorney appeared on your behalf on ##/##/2007 at the @#$%^&* Courthouse. Your case was tried and we are pleased to inform you that all charges against you were dismissed. You have no points and no conviction will appear on your record. We hope that when the occasion arises that you will call upon The Ticket Clinic again! Thank you for choosing The Ticket Clinic. We appreciate your patronage."

Their fee was $200. My GE Motor Club purchased from Sam's Club will pay $170 towards court costs. So, out of my pocket was $30. Now that's a cool plan. I believe the GE Motor Plan costs around $45 a year and so far this year, I've used it once for keys locked in the truck ($35) and this one ($170).

BTW - the ticket was for 85 in a 70 on I-10 heading West. FHP was setting in the center section hiding between the trees where they have those roads that go through to the other side. Drilled me with instant on as there was not much traffic that morning.

Hey, that's great! What did the attorney argue to get the case dismissed?

Reading Comprehension 101!?!? :rolleyes:

They appeared on his behalf. How would he know?

As long as its not an on-line scam. :(

They took your money.

You missed your court date.

There is now a warrant out for you.

Sleep tight :D

Ha! I'll find out in the AM. Thanks, but I'll sleep good anyway due to this cold and the Nyquil kicking in. Ugh!

If I were you, which I am not, I would definitely call the court ASAP. It is possible you were convicted of something, maybe not speeding, but something else, and may owe an additional fine. If you don't pay, you will have your license suspended and depending on agreements between your state and Florida, your own license in your own state also suspended. Then you forget to signal for a turn on your way home from the store someday. Cop runs your license, BINGO!!!! suspended, and your car gets towed, and you get hauled off to a lockup for awhile. Thats the way it works in my neck of the woods.

Good luck!

I think that "All charges were dropped and no convictions will appear" pretty much defines that nmothing else was pleaded. I assume he paid them with a credit card and he has his road club thing. The court will probably be mailing him any way because the judges decision is usually made in writing.

I wouldn't sweat it.

First called the TC and they are going to be giving me a copy of the court results sometime today. Then called the County and they confirmed that all was true. :yahoo: They gave me the name of the attorney who represented me and his ph # to get the documentation needed for my GE Motor Club.

check this out: This is on page 14-15 of the GE Motor Club Roadside Assistance guide..."Legal Defense Reimbursement".

Violation:

* Reckless driving (including similar offenses such as negligent collision, speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other controlled substances). Defense - $170, Appeal - $150, Total - $320 (Odot, you reading this?)

* Manslaughter D - $600, A - $400, T - $1000

* Other Motor Vehicle Law Violations (including all other moving violations) D - $75, A - $75, Total - $150

Oh I dunno. I'm just guessing that if I have an attorney representing me in court, I'd like to know what they're gonna argue. I mean, yeah, we're not talking Enron here or anything, but still.... :D

"**** your honor. I don't care. Throw the book at him. I mean, look at that redneck hick avatar he uses. He could use some rectum stretching time in the pokey." :lol:

Just found out officer didn't show along with clean driving record = case dismissed. It's all good!

Florida seems to have some goofy ways out. I live in Fort Lauderdale and have used those services once with the same outcome. I had not had a ticket since the age of 17 so it was dismissed,17 years no tickets. I probably just jinxed myself. You should be all clear.

It's a scam alright, but not to get dan's money.

The officer didn't show because he wasn't subpoenaed, and he wasn't subpoenaed because nobody was contesting the charge and requesting a hearing/trial, and nobody had to plead not guilty and request a hearing because the fix was in with the prosecutor as soon as the suit walked through the door.

It is a "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" kind of system. You can bet your "representative" in court will be dropping a couple of bucks from his "fee" to the PA in the future for his re-election campaign, or run for higher office, or he will return the favor when they switch jobs from prosecutor to defense lawyer.

I'll bet somebody a beer the officer never heard a thing after he turned in the ticket, and it will never see the light of day. These ticket resolution things are a cash cow for some jurisdictions.

Exactly right - spending a few hundred on a rep is the best way out - found that out unfortunately way too late in life. You can be guilty as sin- but you contribute to the system, they give you a nod. I've been busted for the same things and gone to court dozens of times - with a rep=$$ and no points.

That's exactly what a friend of mine said today about it.
