Just found that one of the head light bulbs on my 03 has burned out,so now I am looking for some replacements. What is a good bright white bulb?

I don't currently need new lights, but my day is coming for my '07, and the price on those Osrams is way better than any prices I've seen at any local parts store. So I ordered a set. If they suck, I'm holding reaction57 and Oface responsible. If they don't suck, I'll pat myself on the back for having the foresight to order them.

Hehe...

Noting that the wiring on our rides is pretty anemic and the reflector is likely to burn if you go with high wattage bulbs, before you buy overpriced bulbs with the same watts and fewer lumens than the stock bulbs you might want to do some reading here:

You won't be disappointed.

I don't know anything about melting reflectors. The Nightbreakers worked great in my '06 for years.

Thank for the input on lighting options, in the past I put a set of Phillips bulbs in the St1100 I had and liked them, but hearing the name Osram makes me think a riding buddy of mine has them and really likes them. I know my brother has a Piaa bulb in his bike and for a bike with only one head light bulb it puts out good light. Now I just half to make up my mind.

Here is another good site with actual light tunnel tests:

I personally run Night Breaker Plus.

Not that it's really relevant, and Cutty Sark should be factored, but

...

What day is i?

I've always used these: Philips Vision Plus.

Then there are these too: Philips X-treme Power.

I think that before peeps have reported the Osrams were bright but didn't last very long?

I really wonder how much they make a difference. I mean a watt is a watt, and the FJR's reflector isn't changing.........

Good shit there fellas!

I can't wait to pull out some of those articles the next time somebody tries to extoll the virtue of HID conversions! :)

I had the Osram Nightbreaker bulbs in my 07. One burned out in about 9 months and the other lasted just over a year. I ride at least 1000 miles per month all year long, so they do get used fairly often (no comment from you Skooter ;) ).

Osram has replaced those bulbs with a PLUS version that's supposed to last longer. That's what I used to replace the burned out ones because I do like the better light they provide. Time will tell how long they last - but they are still running with about 1year and 9month on the 2 bulbs, respectively.

Oh yeah, you Gen I FJR guys won't like the new bulb because it's a Gen II Osram bulb and won't fit in with your Luddite, old school philosophy. :p
