Sorry to hear this. The older I get the more friends I have with health issues and worse. I wish you the best.

Edit: Freakin' Canadians.

Ray,
If yer plans change for building the deck for your buddy, let me know...maybe I could swing down to WV to help.
Yeah - me too. I don't know how much help I'd be but I can fetch beers, etc... Any reason for a trip to WV is reason enough.

Thanks for the offers guys, but I think I'll end up with more than enough help, maybe too much, LOL. We'll see how it goes, I'm sure more then enough dropping in for a cold one won't be a problem.

well I am glad I read through the whole thread before I offered you the euthanasia kit I keep in the garage.

otherwise, if you are serious at all, I would see a gerontologist, not your gp.

All this fool'n around.... I'm going shopping! I need another bike for the collection. No Apr Fools either, I just sold another snowmobile so I got room for another toy, not to mention a wad of Franklin n Grants burning a hole in my pocket.

Ray, save me some of that Forty-C, and order-in that Gen3, eh!

not remembering what day it is and what was on the calendar, needing more afternoon naps. The tests so far are ongoing and not conclusive as to exactly what it is, could be lots of things, Altzheimers, dimentia, MS, shrinking of brain tissue in key areas, etc.
That's called R E T I R E M E N T.

Let's hope you hang up your gloves later than sooner.

My dad is 74 (or so .. I forget...) and he is in his last 5-10 years of riding. We're trying to do as much of that as we can.

If the weather was better I'd ride up there and kick you in the nuts.....................

Glad to hear that you are still sort of normal.

This thread hits me in the gut. I'm 48 - far from Ray's age, but I can see the light in the distance. I'm old enough to realize that my life is no longer about money. It's no longer about climbing some kind of ridiculous ladder. It's no longer about keeping up with the proverbial Jones' - I curse those *******s with language not suitable for this forum (that's saying quite a bit, no?).

My life now is about time. Making the most out of the window of time that exist between now and whenever my health or whatever decides that I won't have more time. it's about going fishing. A walk on the beach with my wife. Sharing a cold one (or two) (or 6) with real friends. Growing vegetables and cooking delicious meals for my kids. Calling in sick (when I'm not). Playing cards with the boys. Catching a mid-week ball game by myself with a hot dog and a beer.

And making a LOT more ride reports with bikes that have an unbelievable load of miles on them.

No one knows how wide that window opens. Read between the lines, friends. Ray is telling us something very important.

Well done Ray! Just read this today. Good pick up on Joe's part. Where in WV is Gary? I have all the fun tools that you would need for building a deck. Let me know when and I will see what I can do. Of course that would mean driving my truck to WV. That would be almost painful. Let me know.

AMEN! I'm almost the same age as you, thinking the same!

Is this the so called mid-life crises thing we are at? hmmm

Strange, but magically all my 'issues' seemed to disappear at midnight...... coulda been the afternoon nap helped too..... enjoyed joshin' ya'll on April Fools....... but it is true as one gets up there, one does think about that one day way in the future when one might have to hang them up, or be damaged in the process..... hppants has the right idea, one should take time to enjoy things that matter to you more as you are on the journey to getting up there, most of all being safer along the way. At the same time, don't worry, be happy, and as MNFJR says, go ride and have fun.

I do enjoy being retarred, every day is a Saturday.........

No pain...... I'm planning on doing the truck thing with tools...... I may even trailer the bike too...... all this is in the early planning stages, no date has been picked, I'm likely to have lots of help from Gary's closer friends, no worries. You may be in charge of keeping the beverages cold, and I know how you hate that job........ Gary's a few miles south of Parkersburg
