Even after searching and reading, I'm a little vague on what I can do to reduce vibration on my 07. Some say a PCIII helps, others it's grips.

I just picked up my 07 about three weeks ago. After going through the forum on a number of issues I was experiencing many of the same problems. I had the same experience with my Valkyrie and then my Harley but eventually go most everthing to my liking. The FJR vibration and bar reach was giving me numbness in my right hand. First I adjusted the seat so it had less lean forward, which is not one of the standard settings. Next I did the peg extender which lowered and moved the leg position. Still was getting the numbness. I then added "whatagrip" which my wife said I should try. They are a grip for tennis rackets and it helped. I had ordered the "Throttlemeister" which I had used on my Valkyrie. I ordered the heavier ones based on some of the forum comments. I installed today and although there were positive and negative comments from forum members, I have to tell you there is a marked difference. I think this is the answer. More riding tomorrow. I had no numbness today. I will update.

 
Reducing the throttle spring tension can help in "perceived" vibration. You will notice that most that complain about vibration find the problem predominant in the right hand.

As for myself,

1-Grip Puppies

2-Throttle Body Sync -amazing effects on reducing vibration

3- Lightened up the 3 Throttle Spring (middle one unhooked)

Now it is very smooth and can ride all day with no fatigue.

 
Sell it and buy a schwinn? :D or go ride a hardtail panhead for a coupla weeks :p

I just rode back from Mexico 13 hours straight on my HD that is slammed, stretched out and about as non tourer as you can get. Before that I did 8 states, 4500 miles in two weeks and the only thing that hurt was my a**. I've been riding for 30+ years and this vibration/numbness s*** aint right for something that is so high tech and marketed as as touring machine. I'm sure your schwinn and panhead and FJR get a lot of miles with no problems in your trailer.

 
Try the throttle lock or cruise control. With one of these you can release the 'death grip' on the bars and let your wrists, in effect, act as shock absorbers.

Panheads...are we talking the hydro glides (hard tail) or dual glides (fully suspended)? Some of those old wide (supportive) and sprung saddles had a reputation for melting the miles away. Oh yeah, they didn't have those nasty throttle return springs either. Vibration...that was referred to as, "character". Ah, the good old days.

Doughnuts, cheeseburgers, fried chicken...yes , a nice layer of body fat will dampen out most high frequency vibrations.

Also:

Go faster, higher rpm vibs are harder to feel than lower ones. Wind noise and adreniline help here too..

Or perhaps I should just say...What Vibration?

I read in a few threads something about filling the handle bars with silicone to reduce vibration. That seems reasonable, no?

Perhaps it will also help reduce the fatiguing on the aluminum if you use heavy bar end weights. AND if the fatigue breaks the bars, the silicone core will hold it together long enough for you to get to a reasonable speed before you crash. :rolleyes:

OK, I think I've stopped laughing enough to type! Now *that's* a sense of humor!

Seriously, You might try this: Get ahold of a set of Honda ST1300 bar ends. By grinding off the little half-moon thingy on the tip, they'll bolt right on to the FJR bars, and they weigh roughly 4X as much. That's how ST owners can claim they have less bar vibration than FJR's do!

The ST's 90 degree V-4 is just a smoother engine. But it's probably quite a bit heavier and much more complicated than an in-line 4. I've read reports that the ST owners often recommend adjusting the two balancer shafts in the belly of the engine.
