The Park Ranger wanted to know if I was carrying chains. "Sure am sir, two dimes, a nickel and six pennies."

Cayuse Pass - Washington Cascades this afternoon. (4675 ft.) This was a very nice ride from Kent to Packwood, Morton, Elbe, Enumclaw and home again B)

Seriously, the Ranger asked if you had chains? :)

Boy, that is soome beautiful scenary Jim - thanks for sharing with us less fortunate folks...

You know it does look a bit ominous in these pics and yes it was 34f on the gage while stopped with the FJR idling. Probably more like 30-32 degrees. The concern I had was that there might be an icy spot or two along the way but it turns out that was not the case. The road was in great shape having just been plowed and temps not low enough to do any harm. One very picturesque outing however.

One of the many advantages of living in the PNW is that, as was the case on this day, one can leave the house in near 50 degree weather at sea level and within an hours time be at 4500 to 5500 ft in elevation. Most of that elevation gain is achieved in a relative few miles and is lost in the same time span.

This ride consisted of a short span in the low 30s and then warmed up to the low 40s for a good part of the time. Another oddity about Cayuse Pass is it is not a west - east pass across the Cascades. It is a north - south route on the west slopes and delivers you to lower elevations rather quickly.

Any time you get to ride the Cascades, in any direction is pure Moto Bliss. :clapping:

That it was, I have yet to regret any ride I have experienced this year. (22K miles in the last 6 months.) It's been an absolutely wonderful season. "And it ain't over that's for sure."

Thank you and same to you regarding the opportunity to meet you at the PNW Tech Day. What a great time and great group of sharing and giving individuals. It was a very positive experience. Also, most exceptional hosts, don't you agree?

Keep Going!

Great pic's Jim - I presume you were on your way to visit another Dam?
J
It wasn’t a Dam snagging ride Jay. Can you believe it? However, #57 on the season is not too far off. I see the weather on Sunday is an opportunity and Wed. next week looks good as well. There are some great dams on the Olympic Peninsula.

I have been working on your CC device with little success. Must be the wooden coat hanger……

Keep Going! And don't bury that air mattress just yet. You never know ………….
