Thanks for doing this, I know what a PIA these things can be.

I am in for set of PR2's if the price is right.

Greg

I'll try a set of PR2s. I haven't put the same tires on twice, and this would be my first set of PR2s.

Just paid $315 for a set the day before yesterday. do I want to know what you get for a price? :angry2:

I appreciate you doing this GB also.... few like myself know what a ginormous ***-pains these Group Buys can turn into....

My PR2's on my FJR have a good 2000-3000 miles on them, but I can not wait to dump them now that they are well into their "bad period". I am going back to Avon Storms, personally.

mdisher, why don't you see what they'll do for set of Avon Storms, shipped. If it's a killer deal that I can't find elsewhere, we'll go with Crazy Cycles. If they don't do Storms for whatever reason or the pricing isn't there, I'll put together a GB specific for that tire (perhaps RoadSmarts also), and those that want PR2's can go with your GB.

Everyone wins. B)

??

PR2s have a bad period?

I wonder if that explains why things seemed a little loose last weekend? I thought I was imagining it. When I rode hard there seemed to be plenty of grip, but when riding easy (at the posted speeds) the transition center to side seemed a little squirrely. I checked the tire pressure and looked everything over. In the end I figured my equilibrium was affected by my behavior the night before. :dntknw:

I've had 2 sets of PR2s, in my experience the front tire goes long before the back. I've managed 6k out of the front at best. The rear lasts till about 8k for me. I can't speak for anyone else's experience, and I am certainly not a tire expert, but for me the bad period happens when the sides (I guess this is the dual compound?) gets to a point where it suddenly grinds off really quickly. Then the bike is just all over the road obviously in a really bad way.

I just bought another set out of habit, but storms may be next.

Checking on Storm pricing as well. It appears Michellin/Distributor is out of Fronts until 9/8 or there abouts.

Agree the rears seem to last longer than the fronts. I recently replaced a rear (prematurely with 6k miles cause I couldn't keep it plugged). I should have replaced the front a the same time and didn't. My front is pretty much done at 7k... I could do more slabbing with it but it's high performance cornering properties are long gone.

I still like them though, much more than the Storms, but different strokes for different folks.

Matt, is he offering a discount for a rear tire only? If so, I'd jump on the bandwagon for a rear tire. Gonna' need one in probably 2,000 miles.

If he does, chances are that I'd like in on the deal.

Exactly so. Approaching 5900 miles on my PR2's, and I can not wait to dump them even with a good couple thousand miles of treadlife remaining. It's a struggling to maintain a decent line in fast sweepers; in the tight twisties, the bike is a complete mess - handling is all over the place. Bah.... :glare: these tires are outta here....

If the price is right I might take a complete set and if they do a rear only I will go in on it as well. PR2s that is.

Actually only need a rear. Front still looks good.

Ok.
I pretty much swore to myself that after the 905 group buy I'd never do it again. But...

On my last ride I ran into some really great guys (Cycle Crazy) in NC. They took care of me during my time of need and didn't rake me over the coals.

I briefly chatted with him about setting up a group buy.

I'm assuming PR2's are the most desired so I'm getting pricing for sets of those, delivered in the lower 48 states.

What other tires would are of interest and what type of pricing are we looking for?

My plan is to beat SWMoto/Derby Cycles, etc. as this is intended to be a 'group buy' and should afford a little better pricing IMHO. (nothing against either of those and I've patronized them both).

I would be interested in the Avon Storms or the PR2's.
