I'm sure this has been hashed and rehashed on this forum, but I can't find it. My new rear Pilot Road (600mi) picked up a small sharp rock and went flat. I called 4 cycle shops who, without looking at the tire, say it must be replaced. I have a friend who repairs tires and claims plugs are very safe. He patched it for me and said it would be fine as long as I didn't run at high speeds for extended periods of time. What's the opinion here? If there is a thread on this subject, please point me to it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

well in my experience as long as the hole is not too big and it is also patched on the inside of the tire as well you should be good to go! those tires are expensive to replace with no miles on them!

Here's a link of a recent thread about this topic. I say ride it. Having a tire guy tell you that you have to replace it is like asking a stripper if lap dances are worth the investment?

Good Luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!!

What did you try searching on? I found multiple threads very quickly by entering +tire +plug in the Search area including the link provided by another person.

Thanks for the info. I am now more comfortable with the plug.

Sorry Ignacio, I just used the words tire and plug w/o a + sign. I just read the search instructions. Will try to do better next time. :(

Have a great day.

I might be a bit of an overboard evangelist for using Search and just glad when people are able to find stuff. Hope I helped.
